You’re right Coj and I think blogs like 20jfg and No Pain In Pop are trailblazers in their field. They’re so marginalised though.
I mean, Kasabian AT NO. 1?, It’s more ridiculous every time you look at it.
Here in Britain we don’t have any credible musical publications and these lists are a painful reminder of that. You stop reading NME and Q at 16 and then start again at 45.
They’ve given a token mention to some of the great albums of the year and then inexplicably piled in a load of landfill indie.
Bands like Kasabian exploit this phenomenon that exists here by pumping out worse and worse cock-rock every year developing an ever-expanding mass of wankers throwing piss around at festivals.
