Coldplayest Winter
Again, don’t we normally celebrate artists branching out? People get so pissed off at rappers not staying in their place.
And I’ll defend vocoders and autotune. It’s not necessarily about making your voice sound good, it’s just a sound you like. To me it’s no different than using a distortion pedal on a guitar.
You know, some of us aren’t constantly 100% aware of hipster behavior and motives and we really don’t care. A lot of us can sincerely enjoy music, lots of different kinds of music, without being self-conscious of who else likes it and how we’re going mask our opinions about it. And I know this might sound crazy, but we also listen to different genres of music indiscriminantly because of our enthusiasm for the art form.
Oh, and get this: some of the people I’m referring to have blogs.
No, I didn’t like it much either. There’s nothing special about it. It’s just a boring distillation of everything they’ve done previously plus strings. Too much effort, not enough genuine inspiration. I also find it really cocky where I find the rest of their stuff rather earnest. They sounded better when they were constantly pissed off at themselves.
Was that a long, horribly underpunctuated joke? I can’t tell.
I meant during the last chorus.
That screen capture looks like TV on the Radio. As vocally ungifted as he is, I liked how all over the place he was during the last verse.

It’s fun to look at while listening to the first 45 seconds of”Chinese Democracy.” Other than that, it doesn’t look that great, but God bless ‘em for trying to do something cool with album art. When bands do that, it seems like they put time into trying to make an album special or distinct. I just get all sentimental for physical formats.
