i have a hard time believing he'll make all of those shows in the southeast
shiiiit. she dropped two of the lead singles at the very beginning? that's confidence.
OMG nme PLZ get over the arctic monkeys.
THIS VIDEO IS AWESOME. btw I am stoked to see stereogum cover THIS bands called Dads.
ummm whatev- I don't know when NJ Dads formed but recently I started seeing kids wearing Dads t shirts and was at first jealous because i thought it was a shirt for FL Dads. Dads Fl's first 7" Hat Creek which totally rules really fucking hard came out in 2010 so....yea- there are multiple bands called X.
I really liked your write up last month. That point about the language they are using (their write up on sacred bones calls it "their first proper studio record")- I am actually sort of confused about something. When I saw them play they were out of all their own records or tapes. I was bummed but one of the members told me not to worry about it that I should just wait for the new record. I assume Sonoran and Void would count as albums specific to this incarnation of this band. What's the deal with Sonoran and Void that would count them out?
perhaps they mean this will be the first album stereogum will pay attention to. research is easy: http://www.discogs.com/artist/Destruction+Unit
also- PLZ do one of the about The Power Out by Electrelane
It's weird. My disdain - disappointment - hatred of MPP rendered me unable to listen to anything AC related for at least 2 years. This was the first time i had ever fallen out of love with a band HARD. Friday- I had a panic attack and was grappling to find some of my music I could jam and not get freaked out. For some reason Monday- I decided to listen to Strawberry Jam. Up until that morning jamming Fireworks there wasn't anything I could decided on that would clear my head and allow me to escape. It feels good to once again remember how it felt in highschool to be so stoked about that band and the things that they were doing. For a while I tried to ignore MPP and go on listening to the AC records that I loved - but it didn't work- it didn't feel the same. Now I think I can do that. Winter's Love gave me chills for the first time in a long time. This album[Person Pitch] is great. It used to be my favorite thing to draw to. PS. does Comfy in Nautica sound like hippy jock jamz to anyone else?
umm- Live Through This rules. OK? LCD Soundsystem deserves to be on here about at much as Adele. P.S. Back To Black > 21 4EVER.
ICEAGE. PISSED JEANS. DESTRUCTION UNIT. MILK MUSIC. MERCHANDISE. LOTUS FUCKER. GUN OUTFIT. VAR. PHARMAKON. PURLING HISS. i agree about Le1f and kurt vile but the rest of the list is whatever on me.
I think it's more interesting for criticism to be something about what music means to you. Criticism should be about creating a dialogue. Perhaps this article is about how music creates a dialogue with yourself. Who needs qualitative criticism. This is article seems to be about reflection. This is not my favorite article I've ever read or anything(nor do i like the woods at all- even a little bit) but I very much like this direction.
Sleater-Kinney is the perfect example of how bizarre it is to rank an artists discography objectively. Specific records hit people more than others harder than others for different reasons. Each record is has an individual perspective based on where the members were in their life and career. I'd much rather read about each individual writer's favorite Sleater-Kinney album and what it means to them. Not ranked.
The Hot Rock. Forever and ever. Amen.
I wonder if the mermaids are from weeki wachee springs
saw moon duo live. they are terrible.
if Ingmar Bergman directed Sleater-Kinney's "Get Up".
It looks like if Ingmar Bergman directed Sleater-Kinney's "Get Up".
one of the coolest bands alive
Why does nobody ever comment on the good stuff? Merchandise is one of the few bands that I really love these days. I've been waiting forever for them to be put on this website. Same thing for Broken Water and Milk Music. Whenever songs from people who aren't Animal Collective or Lana Del Ray or of that status actually gets on here[no posts about the unbelievable White Lung LP] nobody seems to care. Children of Desire is a perfect album. Hopefully people in the future will know it existed.
Where are the dates in the south?! When does the next album come out?! Why has nobody commented on this yet?!
THANK GOD FOR THIS ALBUM AND THIS BAND. It's an emotionally thrilling record.
from the moment it started to the end of the fourth time in a row i watched it- i couldn't stop screaming.
Screaming Females is a band fronted by a female who rarely screams.
Zoo is awful. I don't get what the deal is. Still nothing moves you and Ronhert park are incredible albums. Why does getting on matador mean scaling down your sound. Why does a punk band have to be on matador or sub pop or any other major-indie label to get coverage outside of MRR?
this rules. this band rules. everyone of their releases is good. why has no one commented on this?
A few months ago i did a comic on this subject for a local paper. It went like this: In an Alternate universe Courtney love killed herself in 1994(instead of Kurt)- as of 2012: EVERYONE loves Hole, wears their T shirts, has posters of Courtney on their wall and considers Hole one of the greatest bands of all time...Kurt put out some underrated yet commercially successful albums, shows up at red carpets and on tv appearances fucked up on drugs or drunk and is treated like a joke or cautionary tale. People make fun of him claim he killed Courtney and pretend they never liked Nirvana.
1. Nu Sensae- TV, Death, and The Devil
