As a close friend of Adam’s I can solely confirm that he did in fact pay the photographer cold hard cash for the photograph. So you can’t really categorize this as theft if the photographer was rewarded. In regards to The Postal Service, I see/hear very little similarity betwixt Fireflies and any of their songs. And as for the people claiming that Adam’s music is meaningless, it’s truly not. The majority of the songs he wrote under the project ‘Owl City’ are written for his girlfriend, Annmarie Monson. Some of his songs are about avoiding death and drugs, two very deeply meaningful topics. Adam verbally declared in an interview that he’d not heard of The Postal Service before people began accusing him of copying them. If he did he would have included them in the list of his inspirations. Fireflies is actually a song about insomnia, a condition Adam suffers from, and how memories of his girlfriend help him get to sleep at night. So before you start throwing accusations at people for things they’ve not done, check your sources first.
