Three Times One Minus One!
I liked this album when it came out. I still like it now. But nice that Stereogum can have it both ways with the positive review when it came out, and a negative review here. I look forward to another review of the album in another 6 months, when you guys deem the album “Kinda OK!”
I wasn’t crazy about “Discoverer” (it sounded too much like a “Turn You Inside Out” redux to me) but I like this song a lot. I also enjoy the concept of an album having a “trailer.”
I agree they were sloppy at Pitchfork, though when they played Chicago again in September they sounded fantastic and looked to be having a blast. I also watched the webcast of them playing at Matador21 a couple weeks after that and it was a total disaster, so basically they were vintage Pavement again.
I like how he tweeted this three days ago, but it took this long for anyone to even pay attention for what Billy Corgan’s even saying anymore.

Pavement actually played “Unfair” on the show. “Stereo” was a web bonus.
Interesting. Though I liked Asthmatic Kitty more when they adopted the trailblazing critc-based price structure.
Yes you do.
This album is better than I expected. A pleasant surprise.
“…the band’s show tomorrow on 8/5 at Madison Square Garden…”
nope.
“You were never supposed to hear these songs. That’s why I put them on the front page of my website and sold them to be downloaded. Obviously.” -Liz
Blues Traveler AND Switchfoot at the same festival?! Sounds amazing.
After the first couple listens, I think it’s far better than Stay Positive.
They rarely have bands back two years in a row, so I doubt that’s Bon Iver on line 2. Hot Chip seems like a better bet.
1st band on 2nd line = Social Distortion.

She was awesome in Moonrise Kingdom!
