This list is useless as all of these "Best Of" lists are. Youth lagoon is too far down. Where are The Antlers, Feist, Beirutm neon indian etc etc etc. This is like a hey let's appeal to everyone top 50. Split it up by genre at least.
Sure, Brendan Canning's album was not the greatest, but Churches Under The Stairs could have been right off s/t. If you don't like spirit if, you haven't really listened to it, it's one of those albums you can rely on to fill in a playlist, and some of his best work. Forgiveness Rock Record has some misses ( Art House Director ), but if you can't appreciate Sweetest Kill you have no heart. As for the drama, ignore it and enjoy the music. It's like Bon Iver, I have no respect for his increasingly public opinions and hypocrisy, but he still makes some good music.
Maybe he'll get a haircut, grow a beard, gain some weight, and write something on par with his old stuff. Hopefully this is also the end of the Kanye West ballerina videos too.
One of the best albums this year and this song is pretty great when it kicks in, but sometimes he sounds like the old man from family guy probably due to compressor settings and emphasized with reverb.
How long can a band ride one song? and a cheesy, predictable, boring one at that. I'd complain that the Hulu videos you guys post don't work for Canadians, but you're doing us a favor on this one.
