I don’t understand why just because someone passes away means that it’s impossible to consider them in a negative light. He had a valid point- Reatard lived hard and dangerously, and unfortunately paid the price. I saw him live less than 2 months ago, and while I didn’t personally like the set, I could see his talent and energy. RIP.

“Outlaw Pete” as the #3 song of 2009? I saw Bruce at a sold-out show in August, and the general reaction to the song went “Meh” for the first half, then “Jesus Christ get it the fuck over with!” once he dragged it out to about 7 minutes.

I’m calling bullshit. Where’s New Moon?

As an 18-year-old college student who learned about the Pixies two years ago and fell in love with them completely, I obviously missed their tours. So when I heard about the Doolittle tour, I nearly shat my pants in joy. Here’s this band that broke up 15 years ago, reunited once in ’04, that I thought I’d never get to see, and not only are they playing where I can see them, but they’re playing my favorite album front-to-back (and with some surprises, like Into The White, Caribou and Gigantic).

It almost feels like these tours are just as much for “new” fans as the “old.”

Oh, and the show blew my fucking mind.

I actually ended up interviewing them before a free show at my college. Great band, great sound, they’re excellent live and quite nice to boot.

I wish them the best and hope to see them get success (the 8.5 on Pitchfork will definitely help).
