i give the guys some credit for the conecpt of abandoning the sugary elementary synth pop that made them famous. i do (it’s not like the last album was incredible anyway, although “time to pretend” is catchy as hell, pretty fun, and the video rocked.). it sounds like they tried really hard to redefine what their sound is, what they are all about. this new album is a bit of a middle finger to sophmore album expectations.
it’s just too bad the new album blows, though. these performances were bleh
