oh cool i LOVE ao scott! really. i always read his reviews of movies i care enough to think about, and i almost always agree with him. his opinions aren't nearly so populist as ol' ebert's are though, i wonder how that is going to go: this format of show (which i agree with 'gradstudentsaretheworst' is best for mom & dad) but with rather elite almost snobbish-tending critics at the helm? weird!
was judd apatow somehow involved with this?? they refer to it a lot on the freaks & geeks commentary tracks for some reason and that is about 100% of my exposure to this show previous to right now. (professor commentaries emeritus over here)
what the F?!
mr hankey got a whole show? who wants this? are the japanese this obsessed with poop? poops who commit honor-suicide at the drop of a hat? is honor-suicide that big of a real thing over there and not just the punchline to gabe's jokes about gwyneth?? SO MANY QUESTIONS
john mulaney's new album is so good! not to mention with an A+ pic of him on the cover. nice back door plug!
also i can't figure out why i can't post this logged in, i've logged in like 3 times now
whoops and by 'tomorrow' i obviously meant 'friday'. thanks to everybody for not noticing/not calling me out on that...what day is it
also i'm relatively certain that nobody in the world actually has starz
i miss constance though :(
i don't wanna watch this clip because i don't want to ruin the surprise before tomorrow!
did you guys watch Glee last night?? (i'm connecting the jane lynch thread here) -- it was pretty good!
this looked okay but i'm glad it wasn't what i watched to decide if i would like the show. every minor thing that's different between this and the pilot, every expression, actor, every beat - the pilot was better. good job refining things, team!
yes yes yes yes YES. absolutely the best show on tv. blows parks & rec, sit down shut up, even delocated away. i've watched every episode at least 5 times so far. funny, smart, surprising but not forced cameos, fantastic actors from all my favorite things...and one thing nobody's mentioned yet is how complex the characters are! i can't believe how richly written they are; they often act contrary to the expectations that would have been set up were they one-dimensional cartoons in a sitcom. and their relationships with each other are complex too! i love the kyle/constance relationship, really interesting. okay enough gushing but oh man this show is the best.
huh-i think i agree 100% with every comment both of you guys made. especially lindsay's points about 30 rock and gabe's points about this feeling like a weird copy-not-copy of the office. i'm not totally sold on the show but i am totally willing to wait to watch it get better and totally behind aziz and amy and everybody else.
just saw it tonight...i didn't think it was as funny/good as either role models or forgetting sarah marshall, but i don't feel like i wasted my money. paul rudd and jason segel were GREAT, and the state cameos were fun, jo lo truglio and rob huebel and that dangle from reno 911 were hilarious. 'jobin' was amazing. but there was something about a lot of it that gave me the impression of trying to hard and falling short, or maybe yeah just being too formulaic. i think i am already over this 'bromance' thing, i actually rolled my eyes in the wedding scene. once you hear that joke once or twice (they're straight dudes acting like a couple!) it's not really that funny anymore. or at least it isn't for me. still though, b+ would rent to watch the dvd extras.
oh i'm in!! this sounds nice. and i second the idea for local meetups, if enough people are interested in NYC i'd be down to try that? next time? was this comment too sincere/friendly??
didn't somebody tell their kids to go to bed a while ago? it was a british guy because he was referencing 'across the pond' or whatever, maybe the slumdog guy (not danny boyle)?
hey guys so the "chat room" thing is a joke, right? like these comments are what you meant? because you referenced a comment somebody made "in the VG chat" on twitter and i can't figure out what that means.....am i an idiot?
for the record (2 weeks too late) this is apparently in (30 rock) character, he says near the end 'tracy f'ing jordan this is TGS'....not that there is a huge difference between the two i guess, but that's interesting that he's having tracy jordan imitate the rant rather than just doing it straight up
oh, weird. i thought this episode was great. that banjo thing was totally weird but otherwise i loved it. as soon as steve martin said 'but enough with the silly comedy jokes' in his monologue i gave my tv a thumbs up and knew i was gonna like this one. i guess i am a dad.
YES im pressing play and it just disappears, boo...also though dave hill is the best, saw him most recently at the bell house last week, A+ and i didn't even know this show thing was going on.
