Oh man, I would've definitely picked anything off of the Vroom Vroom EP before "After the Afterparty"

December 16, 2016 on The Top 40 Pop Songs Of 2016
As a die-hard Sufjan fan, I think I agree with Will. I don't think Sufjan "didn't care" about these songs like Will said, but I do think it was a bit underwhelming considering the five year break between C+L and Age of Adz and the latter album's expansive and maximalist quality. I was hoping for an album that built off the sound of that album or at least moved in a new direction. I got the feeling that I would have really loved C+L if it came out like 8 years ago when I was really into sad-bastard folk, but it didn't hit me as much as I had hoped to. And I really hate how the majority of music publications were pushing the opinion that it was his best work, and now this hostility towards the opinion that maybe it wasn't THAT great of an album. C+L is his most emotional work for sure. But his best? I don't think so.

Totally agree with you Bloc. Yeah, Ken Bone's opinion on Trayvon Martin is deeply shitty I'll admit, but I can't help but feel bad for the guy. He went viral essentially because people were mocking how he looked (in a playful way w/o actually disparaging him, but come on, we all know if he didn't have that mustache and was a normal weight this wouldn't even be a thing right now), and now we're digging up his internet past and judging him like he's running for office. I get it, Trump's a despicable human being and voting for is seriously questionable act of character, but something we always forget is if we travel outside our little blue urban bubbles and go to coal country where Ken Bone lives, it's hard to find people who AREN'T voting for Trump. And lots of them are just doing it out of loyalty to the Republican Party and their values (not that this is totally justifies it). I imagine Ken is probably one of the only ones among his coworkers who is even considering voting for Hillary. Also, dude hasn't even voted yet. He's fucking UNDECIDED and he's still getting roasted, lol. He doesn't deserve all this ire more than half of the country does. This election is seriously bringing out the fucking worst in people. Ken Bone is just a guy. Move along.

I got your point and think you're right. I'm just a stickler for specifics.

Didn't they give Holly Herndon an 8.7 like a year ago? And Twigs an 8.8? and Bjork a 8.6? Those are just off the top of my head. I thought 8.5 for Grimes and Beyonce were pretty fair for both of those albums. But yes, I agree that p4k's female bnm's are typically lower than their male counterparts.

WHY IS EVERYONE GETTING CANCER? MY GOD This upsets me greatly, if not already obvious from the all-caps. Glad to see they've already raised 50k. I will definitely be donating.

Oh god, just revisited that list and saw that Lana Del Rey was a place ahead of Swans. What in the world.

Right? Mutant is definitely in my top LPs this year and it's sad to see it get snubbed. I felt the same with OPN's album last week.

I have not stopped listening to Garden of Delete since it leaked like a month ago. Easily one of my favorite albums of the year which is saying a lot. I can't believe this isn't getting more love, this song in particular might be one of the best things Daniel has done.

I was hoping Lover Boy would get more love, so underrated in his discography. Also, Mature Themes ahead of pom pom is just flat out wrong, no other way to put it.

Album: Ariel Pink - pom pom Song: Sun Kil Moon - I Watched the Film the Song Remains the Same There were albums I probably liked more than pom pom, but I that one out of my top 5 has the best chance of winning. The other ones didn't get really much coverage here so it would kind of be a wasted vote. But the other 4 albums that I probably enjoyed the most this year (in no particular order): Ricky Eat Acid - Three Love Songs Giant Claw - DARK WEB c l e a n e r s - Real Raga Shit, Vol. 1 Objekt - Flatland Also really loved Alex G - DSU.

October 5, 2014 on Sun Kil Moon’s “War On Drugs: Suck My Cock” Is Streaming On Monday
Yeah, the whole Wayne and Miley thing is kind of ridiculous, but I don't see what the fuss is about. They're not doing anything wrong or hurting anybody, and yeah the film isn't good but who was seriously expecting anything otherwise? I think it's fun to watch musicians goofing off and taking a piss sometimes, which was what I took from this. If you it's not your thing, that's fine. But it's nothing to get upset over.

I think Era Vulgaris is such an underrated record, it always is everyone's least or second-least favorite QotSA album (which is understandable, the other ones are also great) but i don't know, the A Side is just so fucking killer. That said, you guys should DEFINITELY do a worst-to-best Phil Elverum list.

July 28, 2011 on Stereogum Presents… STROKED: A Tribute To Is This It
I feel like a lot of the vocal melodies are kind of forced and monotonous to be honest, and I can't say a single one jumped out at me the way, say, take pills or bros did. Hell, I don't even remember most of them. But that was after one listen, maybe I'll like it more the next couple times around. And even though it probably wouldn't have fit well on the album, I still wish Atiba Song made the cut...such a great song.
