Where is the Sliver Mt. Zion? They have a new song on their blog.

This made my day.

Oh come on, stop being a dick.

This list was full of ‘of course’s on my part, because of course the internet would vote MPP album of the year, and of course the xx landed really high, and of course boring as hell acts like Neon Indian placed. After all, this year (see the ‘sunny’ vibe of bands like Real Estate) seems to be about boring bands.
At least the Mountain Goats landed on there.
Too bad Caspian, There Will Be Fireworks, A Storm of Light, and The Twilight Sad didn’t.

Also, side note, but the xx are some of the ugliest (or at least ugliest dressed) people I’ve ever seen.

What a poor representation of our past decade.

To be honest, they are probably some of the ugliest-looking people I’ve ever seen.
Maybe I should listen to the music one of these days and form an opinion based on that.

I saw them in Woodstock at the Colony Cafe two years ago in the summer, when they’d disappeared for awhile. I showed up, figuring, “What’re they up to?” And their new stuff rocked! It’s still better live than on record, though.

Yeah, they opened for Los Campesinos this summer and were pretty dull.

Also, are there really any surprises on these lists anymore?
I’m glad to see The Mountain Goats and Neko Case placing, though.

Good call on the Cat Power, actually. I might not have put it there, but it’s definitely an excellent album. Where you’d put it on a list depends on your perspective, I suppose.

Same with Arcade Fire.

They, according to Daytrotter, recorded about 9 songs over the summer, and are intending to release it at some point, in some form.

This song is excellent! Really upping the ante.

This is my most anticipated release for next year, and, after hearing this, I can’t imagine it being anything less than the best of 2010.

This is good, good news

While this is a legitimate criticism of the tendency of many to incorrectly judge, don’t you think the hipster part’s a little much? I mean, is it a hipster thing to do to hate Spoon? I wasn’t aware.
It seems like what we do is just take legitimate criticisms and blame it on people being ‘hipsters’.
Like:
Tropical Islander: Global Warming is flooding my island.
Commentor: I know, fuckin’ hipsters, right?

Or
Anti-Defamation League: Holocaust denial has risen in the last decades. I can’t believe these fucking hipsters.

I mean, honestly guys, can’t we calm down a little?

This is an excellent song.

Fallon always seems to be really pumped to get these reunions on his show, like when Sunny Day Real Estate played.
Also, can’t the Pixies just get back together because they like playing the music of the pixies?

I had no idea, and now I’m excited.

If your forget all of the good releases from this year, it sort of makes sense, right?

A Silver Mt. Zion
Shearwater

Looking like a good year.
