I have a hard time liking the strokes. They are the epitome of “boring.” Sorry for the hardcore hate rant here, but I just don’t get it. They always look like robots on stage, and this performance is no exception. They rarely ever improvise outside of their song structures and barely move. Plus, they look like a bad “…walk into a bar” joke now. A prep, a biker, a GnR wannabe, a 50′s greaser, walk into a bar…

I also agree with a previous poster… they seem so “manufactured” to me. I remember watching “Kill Your Idols,” a documentary on the no-wave scene in New york. All of these artists hated the strokes because they never worked their way to stardom. They just showed up on the scene, with a look and were already signed.

I understand that everyone needs to make a living, but c’mon, at least make it entertaining for the masses.

enjoy the vibe to this new track. Hope the album does not disappoint.

i guess i can understand what you are trying to say, many of the songs do have a dub-steppy sort of rhythm to them. Thom is a huge burial fan…

however its like comparing apples and oranges to me…..
blake and radiohead both have their own distinct voices.

This album is definitely a Radiohead album.

both bands did start around the same time, but Phoenix’s first albums sound more dancey and “Air” like. IMO, Phoenix didn’t develop their Strokes-ish sound until “It’s Never Been Like That,” which was released in 2006.

I always thought Phoenix sounded like the Strokes. The Strokes came first.

I pretty sure that that is grapefruit really close up.
