I wonder if he’s gonna get a fake Jimmy Chamberlain to match the fake D’arcy and fake James Iha he’s got playing with him live now
Thank God. Their music would’ve become immediately terrible and I would’ve removed them from my iPOD if this rumor was true.
Good. Now hurry the F up and start touring again! I wish they would’ve done this earlier so they could’ve made it in time for the summer festivals.
Good observation. I noticed the same thing– especially when Amrit mentioned it a few lines up.
There was one that I remember on the Coldplay thread that I thought for sure would make this list. I don’t feel like looking but it said something like: “Dear Stereogum: Thanks for the avid Coldplay updates. I gotta go finish the laundry.- Mom”
Priceless
MMJ at Bonnaroo 2008. Live music experiences do not get better.
Yes. We have already spent countless hours on here discussing how well the Radiohead Model would work for indie bands. Let’s not do this again.
I can’t believe they didn’t play Only In Dreams!!! I would’ve been extremely disappointed. Amrit you should’ve refused to even review the show. I’ve seen them twice and pretty much all I remember about the shows are the big build up with the =W= rising behind them. They take that off the setlist and keep Beverly Hills?!!!
… Or a few tips from Josh Homme

Seriously… Where do these people come from? I’m trying to make some valid points on the awesomeness of the new album and you’re making it impossible
Sigh… Get over yourselves people. I know it hasn’t been cool to like Metallica since Justice but I at least thought you could suck it up and realize the album is good. You don’t even have to love it like i do but this is some of the best playing of their career. I forgot Kirk was that good and I’ve never heard Hetfield play guitar parts like that. I’m just really fucking sick of the trashing Metallica is cool thing. Way too predictable and not the least bit insightful.
Song is incredible IMO. I don’t think they are re writing as much as just following their old formula. If you’re calling that a re write then we might as well say that One was a rewrite of Sanitarium which was a re write of Fade To Black. Day That Never Comes just sounds like another classic Metallica ballad.
And to add to that, I remember when Radiohead played Bonnaroo 2006, My Morning Jacket were watching backstage and Jim James told some news source that he didn’t see what the big deal was with Radiohead. I think Kings of Leon also went on record at the same show saying that they weren’t Radiohead fans which is ironic since that got an Airbag shout out at APW. Does anyone remember this?
Yeah, I agree. I’m not saying he’s not overplayed and trendy. I too have a laugh at 18 year old white girls trying to relate to the hardships of “stowing in from Africa.” I don’t even put him on and sometimes i skip it when it shuffles on my ipod but I don’t think anyone disagrees that it’s great music.
After reading the article that this post is linked to, I’m positive it’s Creep bc he says he was listening to Pablo Honey while writing the book.
Creep. He said he was listening to Pablo Honey while writing the book
Yeah, because Fight Club was such a disaster
There’s a part at the beginning of the book where a character is banging something in rhythm to “the bass line of his favorite Radiohead song. Two fast beats and three slow beats.” I never knew what Radiohead song it was until now.
Umm… Sorry… But this sounds pretty incredible even on low quality. I can’t wait to hear the album.
This is my fourth time seeing Radiohead and I thought the show really lacked energy and momentum. I was expecting the best show ever and ended up a little disappointed.— Actually, I didn’t make it to the show and really really wanted to go. I’m just hoping someone will say this so that I will feel better… I’m in awe of everyone that got to see this
I’m willing to bet everyone universally agrees on Bob Marley. That’s about the only artist that I have never, ever heard anyone say that they hate.
Seen em live… saw em at Bonnaroo… sucked… MGMT played right after and put them to shame. Please, someone, tell me what’s good about this band! Help me understand!!!
I disagree. The only reason I hate Dave Matthews Band and 311 is because so many people think it’s good music. There would be no reason to hate VW if people weren’t trying to make them out to be the best band of 2008, which is completely going over my head. I think the indie bloggers wanted to show that they can lighten up and get away from their snobbery and Vampire Weekend fits right in. “We like fun, preppy, poppy gay music too guys!” I can’t even hear it in a fun poppy way though. Just sounds boring to me… sorry
I got a bone to pick with you and i’m sure you know it’s true…
… and I got high…

Because Jet sucks in the worst way possible and it needs to be brought to everyone’s attention. My god I hate this band.
