Did the Blackfish know? I don't remember him being in on it in the books. This seems like a deliberate change for the show, but maybe we'll find out next week? I also thought Weiss and Benioff really twisted the knife (no pun intended?) by killing off Robb's wife and unborn child, since she isn't at the wedding (and there's no pregnancy hinted at) in the books. Oh, wait, I'm that endlessly-compares-the-show-to-the-books person.
I actually think a magazine as pretentious as the NYer is better for having someone like Dunham in it/shill for it. I genuinely enjoy her work and point of view. It's a shame people can't just be fans of Lena Dunham without entering into some larger, annoying conversation about the hype surrounding her.
"We can’t afford to have these all made from scratch." Though we can't afford to bake our own heads, here at Game of Thrones, we import heads made from the finest head recipes.
Because this show is the best and I am reading the books obsessively, I second the recap request. To put my perspective in SAT analogy terms, I am to Game of Thrones as those people who wish Avatar was real are to Avatar.
Drive, Seasons 1& 2 of Boardwalk Empire, Girl with the Dragon Tattoo, season 3 of The League, and Die Hard (my favorite xmas movie). Maybe I'll take a walk, too.
No prob. Bissell is great. I'm a big fan of his fiction and nonfiction, but he has been writing a lot about video games (he has a book about them) and he does a regular column about them for Grantland. I don't play video games (because I am an adult woman; Bissell: "If you have no idea what the Elder Scrolls franchise is, you are probably either (a) an adult woman..."), but the article was interesting, anyway because of his discussion of the way story lore is conveyed in video games. You should look up some of this other Grantland articles!
I just read about this game! http://www.grantland.com/story/_/id/7290527/one-night-skyrim-makes-strong-man-crumble
I don't play video games but this writer is great.
I didn't take the grossout parts to be in the tone of "ew, girls pooping" etc. I took it to mean that pooping is funny in general, and it's just as funny with women performers joking about it as it is with male performers. Plus, I'm a woman and I love toilet humor, so that was welcome!
