As someone that has worked at both the Iowa City Public Library and at the University of Iowa main library, can say that neither this rule nor the 5th Floor Masturbator surprise me. I once walked into the private handicap accessible bathroom on the first floor of the UI main library and found the bathroom covered in semen. All over.
I have a serious question. Does Ty Burrell have some kind of eye disorder? I've noticed that he blinks a lot (and does a twitchy double blink) on Modern Family, but I didn't realize HOW much he does it until he was on stage last night. It made me a little nervous for him.
I don't want to defend Kim Kardashian and I don't want to be all serious (and I don't know which charity she works for), but Dress for Success and Clothes that Work are both really great charities. A lot of people do not have attire that would be appropriate for a job interview, and that is a huge hindrance in getting a job. The charities also help women (and men) with interview prep, tips about appearance in interviews (don't wear too much cologne, don't smoke before the interview, wear minimal make-up, if you have glasses-- wear them, make sure your clothes are pressed and wrinkle-free, etc). Anyway, if you are getting rid of suits or other interview-appropriate attire, I would recommend donating it to one of those organizations. But otherwise, Kim Kardashian and Donald Trump are both nightmares pretending to be humans. Also, Obama called Kim's boyfriend a jackass, so that might be why she's undecided.
She is totally Sarah 2.0. She won't make a good decision until she is 40-years-old, but then she'll screw it up again by choosing Ray Romano over Mark.
I totally turned to my husband during the Crosby/Jasmine/Jabbar storyline and said that this is something we're going to totally have to deal with when we have kids (except we won't be as pretty). I love how real that was, because 30% of Americans are non-religious (and that number is even higher for people under 35). I also loved how it showed Crosby and Jasmine actually really caring about Jabbar having a system of beliefs and ethics. I think a lot of people think that religion is the only way someone learn to be a good human, and they showed that this is possible without religion. (I typically kind of dislike Grandma Braverman, but I loved when she said that she chose to live on this earth and do the best she can.)
She is 2 years older than me, and will be a grandmother soon. My husband and I are the couple from Idiocracy, waiting until the market is stable to have kids. And this lady has created two generations of people!
My theory is that they made her sad, just because it is the only expression she has in her acting handbook (besides dead-eyed stare -- she's great at that).
And I don't think that it is a coincidence (because Matthew Weiner doesn't allow coincidences in his world) that he named the housewife on the show Betty, a la Betty Friedan.
I would have been AT that movie had they cast Adam Beach as Tonto (and they actually costumed him to look like a Potawatomi Indian, not whatever the hell that is).
When will the Romney campaign realize that acknowledging and addressing the issues that will prevent people from voting for him (wealth, religion, previous voting record) that he will come out ahead? Remember when Obama took on race and religion in his Reverend Wright speech? It didn't fix the problem completely, but it did take it off the table for people to use against him. And when Kennedy gave his speech about being Catholic? If you watch Obama when he gives speeches, he always acknowledges that he is wealthy. The reason this works for him, is because he is essentially saying, "Look, I'm wealthy, and I should pay more in taxes than those who make less than me." It looks virtuous. It is a lot harder to say, "Look, I'm super wealthy, and I think that I should pay less in taxes. Oh, and poor people need to start paying more." But there is a way to deal with being wealthy and wanting to lower taxes on the wealthy (I completely disagree with it, but it is possible). You say, "I am wealthy, that is an obvious fact. My family and I have worked hard for generations to get to where we are. We're an American family that reached the American dream. I want everyone to strive for that, and I don't want anyone to be punished with taxes when they reach that dream." It is right in line with Republican talking points, and it makes it seem like the other side is attacking the American dream. The problem is, you have to sound sincere when you say it, and Romney doesn't have a sincere bone in his body. Sometimes when I watch election related stories unfold, I wonder why no one who works for the Republican campaigns knows anything about previous elections and history in general. If you study elections, you'll notice that the more uplifting, positive candidate almost always wins. The one that says, "this is what I can do", not "look at the mess the other guy made." That is why Obama will win. Republicans are too busy being mad. tl;dr
Watch that while looking at this, and you will die. http://i.imgur.com/Z0UXO.gif
This is very late, but when I watched the Bernie trailer I kept picturing that episode of The Office when Andy, Jim, and Pam watched the Jack Black May/December romance movie.
I must have missed that. Thank god.
I kept on yelling, "Use a condom! Julia doesn't want to adopt 2 babies!" at my tv screen.
One word that would describe yourself? http://www.ohmagif.com/wp-content/uploads/2012/02/rick-santorum-doing-weird-action.gif Courage!
I told my husband that I wouldn't watch the final episode if they sent Paul home. I think we were both a little disappointed that Paul stayed-- even though we're clearly rooting for him. Also, Sarah saying that she knew that it would always be her and Paul in the finale was such utter bullshit. Gah!

I can understand why Beverly would be annoying to Sarah and the others. She is new-agey and a little out of touch. In close quarters, that could be irritating. But as an adult, I know that if I'm interviewed about my performance on a show, I don't sit and bitch repeatedly about someone else. And I don't roll my eyes when someone I don't like accomplishes something or is praised. That is just immature, and will never serve to make you look better. Paul never resorted to saying negative things. While being bullied by Sarah, Lindsey, and many others, Beverly never resorted to talking shit. She just went about her business. If Sarah had been on the phone to her boyfriend/husband, and bitched about not liking someone, I would probably have sympathy for a bitch edit. But she chose to spend her interviews bitching about someone else, instead of talking about the challenges or her own accomplishments. (Also, a lot of the shit that was said about Beverly had a racist undertone. I'm not saying these people are racist, but I am saying that they said some racist shit.) No matter what Beverly did (shown or unshown), Sarah was worse.
Did anyone else get excited when they showed the "after the commercial break" montage that implied that Beverly would get to shoot Sarah? You can tell that the editors were relying on the viewers hating Sarah (or maybe they hated her, too?)
"You can smell the history!"-- I have a degree in History, and I don't remember ever being told to smell something to ascertain the history from it. But, that may be why I don't know Kirk Cameron's REAL history that can be solved by people visiting a statue?
