It's fine if an artist isn't blown away by someone else's work, and it's fine if they vocalize that. Can we talk about how great it is that No Doubt is recording new stuff? And that they're working with Major Lazer? I mean, Rock Steady was 10 years ago, for christ's sake.
It's just ridiculous that this album came out 10 years ago. I can still vividly remember catching the video for "Hard to Explain" before school one day. I'd never heard anything like it before. I had my sister drive me to the mall after school to buy the CD. I don't know where I got the money. It was probably the fourth or fifth real album I ever bought, but for some reason, the whole process was the most memorable. Defining album. It's really nice to hear such wonderful covers from modern musicians that still excite me in the same way the Strokes did in my pimpled youth. Thanks for this, really.
Boy, if this was on King Of Limbs instead of Feral, or just thrown in as another track. I really like this song.
If Radiohead covers Only In Dreams, I'll be a happy camper.
Odd Future will never top Back in Your Head.
It isn't that she's offended by him. It's that everybody is celebrating his music and just sort of brushing off all the rape/anti gay/etc. stuff in the process. You assume she hasn't listened to Goblin - have you even read her piece?
Er, I guess he was *dealing* with them, I just mean like... no one attacked the guy. (I need an edit button D: )
Regardless of how I or anyone feels about Odd Future's music, fuck that first video for not mentioning the nature of the cop's injury, leaving it to the viewer to assume he was in some way hurt dealing with the fans or the group. That's downright slimy.
This is great. I Gotta Rokk and Def Surrounds Us are a return to form for Shadow. I'm still not sure about tracks like I've Been Trying, but at least it has more of a DJ Shadow feel than say, This Time or Broken Levee Blues.
Well said. I love Yonkers, and there are golden little nuggets of wit dispersed throughout the album, but overall it's nothing incredible. I admire the honestly and openness, but I can't really sit through, what, 15 dark bummer tracks.
It's sad to think they went from this http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=t50AitbL4II to suing each other.
Life of Leisure absolutely defined my last summer. Hope I get my hands on this in time for beach season.
While I wouldn't go so far as to say Tyler's the least interesting member of Odd Future, I kind of get what you're saying. I totally love Yonkers, and this track's good too, but it would be a bummer if the whole album is this type of thing.
You run with a strange crowd, sir.
some people could have bought early bird tickets.
I really like The Butcher. I could easily see it fitting into The King of Limbs.
This is great. The party looks terrible though. Points for having a hand saw as a wall hanging.
