This is so depressing to read. Maybe it's the alcohol talking. Here's to hoping that's the case. Pinback and his solo work had such a huge impact on me - it's just really sad to think he's giving up on it. I doubt he will give up on it completely though. Anyone that plays and writes music knows that's an impossible task. He'll probably play live locally and just record less. Very shitty news though.
This track is amazing. The first riff is somewhat similar to Foreigner (can't blame them for that) but I love the cleaned up sound. This album will be good, no doubt.
Svartidauði sound really good! Thanks for that. High Spirits was pretty cool and make for a nice change - something more melodic. Teitanblood album is absolutely mental, there's no other way to put it. One of my favs right now. I've never been too wild about Agalloch - some of their songs are pretty incredible, but those vocals are just so bad! Oh well. Forteresse sound awesome, thanks for that too. Portrait sound killer too ... love those vocals and guitar leads! Fun Metal! It's gonna be another good year for metal - with Impetuous Ritual and LEVIATHAN! Good stuff, keep it up.
You're pretty fucking defensive for someone whom I am assuming making a career out of criticizing what others do ... good job with that haha ... but seriously, what's your point? the album came out in February and it's amazing and it's not on your list of metal 'this' month, being February, that's all I'm saying.
Artificial Brain? Really, you missed that one? Good job with that.
Can't blame his frustration ... but am surprised anyone on stage is grabbing people and throwing them off stage considering how many fans keep dying from "stage diving" in some sort of fashion
#1 - Be My Baby. Why pussyfoot around it and put it at 9 ... it really is the best song ever written.
I always hoped and thought maybe, just maybe ... Burial was a WOMAN! That would've been cool.
DON'T SKIP TRACKS 1 - 3 ... Forgiven is amazing! What a stupid thing to put in a review ... it's some deep and dark ambient techno.
Does this have anything to do with Alcest or is this just another Deafhaven circle jerk? Christ, get over it already.
Leviathan is putting out a new record via Profound Lore in 2014 as well. I'm hoping it's better than the last - I think that one was just thrown together with everything that was going on with that court case. Hopefully the new one is more up to par with Massive Conspiracy.
BOHREN & Der Club of Gore? Jesus - and you put Kanye at #1 ... of course.
No surprise Deafhaven would top the list - these kids have been creaming their pants over it all year. At least a lot of good albums, and far superior albums to Deafhaven made the list. But still, Colored Sands is the superior album this year - because no one but Gorguts can write an album like that and it is a bloody monster. I can't say the same for Deafhaven, and I'm sure now loads of bands will be writing major scale black metal which will top next years "best" metal list here. So have fun with that.
Deafhaven #2 album of the year? Are you kidding me? And it's without a doubt it will be the "#1 Metal album of the year" right? Man, all this praise for what? Every heard Alcest 'Elevation' ... that's what this magical sound you're all creaming your pants in sounds like, except Alcest did it so much better.
And I wonder who is going to top the Metal list ... don't surprise us or nothing.
it's BA - so it's cool cause he's the best.
Ya I'm pretty nutso about Gorguts, but I do have good reason to be. The album is a monster and pound for pound is better than the new Ulcerate. Their vocalist is too monotonous and metalcore sounding. The riffs are good but all those clean airy bits become tiresome - they make for a nice break but they never go anywhere and just seem more pretentious than anything. Grave Miasma sound more like old Gorguts and are awesome as well. Colored Sands is a flawless album, the other two are great but I can't say the same about their latest efforts. I'll stop ranting about Gorguts and telling everyone they're wrong.
New Grave Miasma album rules, but Colored Sands destroys everything this year. If you don't get it, you need to listen again.
New Gorguts is all that matters.
new Gorguts is going to be sooooooooooo heavy
