I can't imagine that this will sound completely different from their debut. And if it is different, *gasp* how terrible! Nothing wrong with a band experimenting with new sounds or styles. Also, you people need to chill the hell out. It's an album cover, for christ's sake.
Please tell me you're joking? Who gives a shit how many albums they sell? Good music is good music--don't let the charts (and either success or lack thereof on said charts) dictate your opinion. Yeah, you've got to be making a joke. I can't rationalize that statement any other way. You signed as "moot"...maybe you're making a moot point? Did I figure it out?
I agree. And I feel that that NEVER happens with albums. I can only think of a couple that have stronger second halves.
I like the vocal "distortion" (it's really slight, anyway). The Letterman performance was better, sure, but this was still really good, and the added instrumental accoutrements were pretty awesome (even if 'Cousins' is pretty straightforward). In any case, I'm really looking forward to the album. I don't really understand all the backlash, though I guess that's just the nature of the beast.
Ah, but see, there are plenty of women IN COLLEGE who love this guy. Don't ask me WHY, but there it is. Though yes, the main audience is probably 13 yo
And if not sleep with him then cuddle and talk about their feelings or something like that, 'cause he's so EMOTIONAL and SENSITIVE....
He's doing something right--he's rich and there are probably a lot of women (OK, young women; roughly college aged, we'll say) who want to sleep with him. The music still sucks, though.
I am quite enticed by Ed's "we all love surprises, don't we?" statement. Oh yes, Ed. We do love surprises. I dunno how you'll you'll top the "Hey, new record called In Rainbows out in 10 days" surprise, but I've got my fingers crossed for something cool....
God, that hoodie looks terrible. Might as well scream "I'M A DOUCHE" if you wore that haha
Pretty crazy. I like the music a lot...it sounds like something you'd hear in a film. The video was...well...different. Interesting idea, to be sure. A little unsettling, too, what with her commentary and the imagery and the music.
I'm quite enjoying this. Lyrics are eh, but the music is really nice, and I like the vocal melody. The guitar is cool, but it has almost an 80s hair-metal tone...I would have used a different guitar sound, but oh well. In any case, as other have said, this is much better than all of Zeitgeist.
I love this cover. I don't know what, specifically, I love, but the way the whole thing comes together is great. I guess it is all in the eyes....
Blueberry Boat is a really fun album. I haven't heard anything else by the FF, though. I've largely been ignoring this whole fiasco (though it is fun to read the comments) because let's face it, if we judged all musicians by the idiotic things they said, we wouldn't listen to anyone. I'm putting armor on because of what I'm about to say, but Thom Yorke can be a total ass in interviews and with other artists. But it's okay if he acts that way? I get it, Radiohead is on a shrine and you can't insult God or whatever, but c'mon, guys. Friedberger might say stupid stuff and make himself look like an ass, but his music can still be fun (of course, that's entirely my opinion and I completely understand if people hate it, 'cause boy can it get weird). (For the record, I do love Radiohead--they're the best band around, as far as I'm concerned, and have been for years now.) Oh well.
The song is also available on itunes as a free download. Search for it on itunes or click the link from the band's twitter page: http://twitter.com/crookedvultures I think it's awesome the way these guys are hyping this album. A free song is a great way to get attention! (And it's a kick ass song, too. Grohl is definitely singing background!)
New Spoon! Jon Brion or not, this news made my day. This record completely crept up on me; I had no idea they were even recording much outside of Got Nuffin'. Now the question is, can I refrain from listening to the live tracks so that I can hear the record in full? Probably not. Woo! New Spoon!
Completely agree. Look at First Impressions of Earth--that album was about four songs too long. Some people freak out when an album isn't 70 minutes long with 16 tracks. I've never understood that...for example, Is This It is a phenomenal ALBUM, and it's only 36 minutes long!
I am so glad to see 'A Ghost Is Born' get some appreciation. It's a phenomenal record that tends to be overshadowed by its older brother. It's my favorite album of the decade, but I'm just glad to see it get recognition! (and number three ain't so bad) I think Pitchfork had a better list (for the most part), but variety is always a good thing.
azir, I don't know who you are, but these kinds of comments are beyond inappropriate. You're disgusting. People like you only look to ruin things for everyone else. You won't care and I'm sure you'll have a snide comment lined up and ready to let go, but jesus, think before you say things. You're not the only person in the world, and though it might only be "the internet", hateful comments are still hateful comments. Emily, as other have said, congratulations. Don't let someone try to ruin such a great thing in your life. :) As far as the music goes, this is a fun song. I kinda miss the guitars, but hey, fun is fun!
