Avey Tare on For Reverend Green is my favourite screaming in music.
Strawberry Jam is patchy? (ง ͡° ͜ʖ ͡°)ง
Dude's voice on that song is just perfect. That is my favourite on the album.
Essentially a top-notch Chance the Rapper track produced by Kanye? It doesn't get much better.
Going to have to do more than bake a potato for the missus to make up for getting busy with ass gay
Good call. The official video is awful. Digging this song though!
My parents are boomers and I fucking love them. Cut back on the Hatorade.
Agreed. I've seen his twitter account 2-3 times and it was a nonsense stream of consciousness. This is a pretty focused explanation of his thought process leading up to the shirt.
Excellent choice. These guys have every right to be terrible simply because of the length of time they have been making music and the general trend for consistency to wean over a musical career. But their output is powerful and perfect. Fuck they are amazing.
Cover a beatles song with autotune. Riiiiiiiight.
That is ok if you don't like it but if you want to get the full experience, do this. Drive through a highway flanked by massive wind turbines while listening to this album. They will spin like lumbering beasts while you wonder when the machines will take over. The Godspeed in your ears and veins will make you sure that it will be before you die. That is what happened to me with their last album.
Jesus, thank you. If you scroll through stereogum's main page, surfing from newest to oldest this post doesn't show up. I thought that all posts were shown on the main page in chronological order. I'm questioning everything now but I'll post my thoughts over next door at the the Godspeed thread.
I'm digging this. You good people at stereogum must be losing your minds with all of the new releases available (Earl, Sufjan, Action Bronson, Kendrick, Death Cab, Animal Collective) within days of each other, I know that I am . Can we get a story about Godspeed! You Black Emperor's new album streaming too? I've been following this site for years and have never seen a shitstorm (shiticane?) of amazing music like this. Exciting time to be alive!
Oh my lord this is amazing! The beat is perfect, the raps as good as on Blue Chips.
This is actually filed under "Album of The Week" and "Premature Evaluation". Check the url. They've done the unthinkable!
Oh god so good!! Also, Something To Look Forward To -> Stay Don't Go is one of my favorite one-two punches on an album ever. Ever!
PS: if I knew how to post images I'd be shaking my virtual head very hard
Sabrosa, Ricky's Theme and Transitions are all stone-cold killers. Shambala is also awesome and Bobo On The Corner is a pleasant soda cracker between sips.
Pitchfork advance has acquainted me with some gems and this is right up at the top of the pile. I've never listened to these guys much but this is a great batch of tracks!
In yeezus' defense I hate its lyrics, the beats are awesome but I find a lot of the lyrics cringe-worthy.
First impression: Doris > Yeezus
Yup, their debut is way too low on this list. A solid list besides this very glaring omission. QOTSA albums best to worst: 1. Songs For The Deaf 2. S/T 3. Rated R 4. Lullabies To Paralyze 5. …Like Clockwork 6. Era Vulgaris
I want to hate Action Bronson for being such a disgusting dickhead (lyrics) but I love what he has put out so far, will have to check out this
Yup I fall head over heels for them every time they release something, including this nugget.
You could pull back the commas a bit but not too much. You're gonna want those commas on the track.
Yes I was disappointed to not see Soma, my favorite strokes song. Other than that pretty decent list. I was never a huge fan of NYC Cops, they have better.
PS: I could easily switch 2 and 3
Me: 1. Kill the moonlight 2. Girls Can Tell 3. Ga Ga Ga Ga Ga 4. Gimme Fiction 5. Series of Sneaks 6. Transference 7. Telephono Favorite song: Don't You Evah. In my top 5 favorite songs of all time.
Yes you fucking did. Fistbump
There's a lot of music out there, it can happen. For me this has been a reminder to go check these albums out again.
Just started streaming. The first track is fantastic! Will need a few listens on this baby
EV has a couple killers tracks but I'd agree it is their weakest effort yet. I do like it but quality of songwriting wise, I would understand why most people don't like it.
Liars never fail to impress me. Awesome track.
