Yeah, I would join you. It's hard to grasp how person can be so talented and so dedicated to his work for such a long time. On a similar note, I often think that I will never forgive myself, if I don't witness at least one game of marvelous Lionel Messi, human being of unreachable genius.
Absolutely. I've recently started listening to her new album and looked into the news stream about her, expecting to see some qualitative discussion. Bummed to see none. New View is my first favourite album of 2016.
This is what they are actually singing "Ya, Ya, Ya! YAAAAAH!"
Oh, I see. That period of time does seem to be saturated with similar, yet unique music. Marrow Of The Spirit and Celestial Lineage are one of the most enjoyable albums I've heard in recent time. Perhaps the fact that I am a newbie in metal world makes me fascinated with pretty much everything that is out there as long as it is loud and heavy. Deafheaven appeared in my life at the time when I needed them most, so there is a special place for them in my heart. Actually your response made me wonder how much there must be yet to discover. Thank you!
Thank you, Michael, for your thoroughly expressed opinion. It gives a certain idea of what the album looks like without setting expectations too high or too low. Deafheaven is, perhaps, the band that I am most excited about right now. They've written two breathtaking albums and the third one seems to be on a par with them. May I ask you where do you stand on the first one - Roads to Judah? For me it is not a lesser piece of music than Sunbather, but I see people treating it like a rehearsal or something, avoiding mentioning about it like it never was. I assume you talked about it before. If it wouldn't bother you, can you throw a link to it. Thank you!
With already released albums from Drake, Kendrick, Panda Bear and Jamie XX and upcoming from Frank Ocean, Kanye West, Miguel, Tame Impala, Kurt Vile, Beach House, Grimes, Destroyer, Kelela, Metallica, Titus Andronicus, Ducktails, Disclosure, James Blake and now Deerhunter this year seems to be the most fruitful in recent time.
Oh, yeah, exactly, Sneaky Sound System is also one of those impecable bands. Thay make amazingly catchy happy songs. One simply can't be sad if he listens to on of it. They're like the modern ABBA at some point. But I haven't thought of them, because their 2011 From Here To Anywhere is on par with their two previous efforts. It's 2015 already, maybe they've got something on the way.
Thank you, Howling Owl, I'll check out Years & Years. I consider 'gum's commenters' taste to be worth taking into consideration.
Have you listened to Alphabeat's other two albums? What can you say about them? I downloaded the last one and gave it a listen once, but nothing catched my attention. If they are three quarters of what This Is Alphabeat is, I will dedicate them a listen of my highest class. lol. On a side note, it really breaks my heart that very few of my old pop favourites can keep up with what they did in the past. I am talking about guys like Dragonette, Sam Sparro, Midnight Juggernauts, Klaxons, Van She, Keane and so on. There is one exception though, I consider the second album of Little Boots to be outstanding. The turn she took was quite surprising. Sorry, I don't know why you have to read this. lol.
Your last paragraph must be placed in some indie-music fans constitution, so all the lamenters would be quickly sent to check it, if it's so hard for them to grasp such simple truth on their own.
Do not for a moment think that there is something wrong with you. But let me add this: do not expect anything to give you its best instantly, even the pop tunes, which are kinda predisposed to do so. That Chandelier song, just like other call-me-maybes, we-found-loves, teenage-dreams and gangnam-styles, blossoms with some repetitious approaches or at least some aquaintace with it. Give it couple of tries.
You know what, what you're saying made me think that Vampire Weekend may be The Beatles of the Modern Days.
Dude, this is a spot on analogy. Was gonna say it, then saw your message. What miss Swift is claiming is a total rhetorics, and I am sure she's saying it conciously. Placing her piece of work on streaming services would only result in a greater spread of it, while not devaluating it significantly, if not not devaluating it at all. It was all in all a practical decision, which I rather support. The problem is that she and her team are not being persuasive.
It's hilarious! How can such comment be downvoted? What's downvotable in it?
Requesting 10 best and worst Rhianna's songs!
'We Found Love' is obviously a good song - calling it one of the finest would be a stretch. And if you like it, I can't undertand how you don't like the rest of Calvin Harris. His first two albums are absolute fun, on third he's making dollars. And he doesn't seem to be taking himself very serious, he's no J.Biebz at that point.
I didn't know "Turn Down For What" is a recent song. I thought it's some classic booty-shaker.
The War On Drugs is like the most summery music, not spending summer at the beach music, but riding in my chevy through the desert kind of music.
Salad Days is my Before Today of 2014.
I very much appreciate your responce. I can clearly see why her recent behaviour and the reception she gets from media and folks can make one irritated. But you know what, that is also the part of her lifepath (I am not going to keep telling that on and on :-) ). Her being an unfamous singer-songwriter, going through surgeries, making changes, being chosen by corporate cats to become a couple-tricks pony who just pushes the pleasure centre buttons. That lady clearly has some story behind her, drama if you will. She makes an impression of a very fragile unconfident person who is not able to resolve the conflict between her lust for glory and glamourous life and the fear of not fulfilling people's expectations. That also makes her a very endearing person, you care about her. I don't care about Gaga, Perry, Bey, Britney and Ri the way I do about her, these tough ladies can take care of themselves. Ok, I see that I am not going anywhere. I am sorry :-) I guees I am just in awe with her.
