You know what I like about Lana? She carries her character all the way through from start to finish. When Lana is being interviewed it's not her impersonator Elizabeth Grant, it's a thoroughly thought-through character, and it takes a certain dedication to stick to it. Imagine Darth Vader being interviewed. Would you blame him for his unpacifist intentions, like, "Oh, come on, Dart! Could you please once in a while just drop that mask off!" Ok, I am saying this half-seriously. What I actually want to tell you is that you can't expect different from Lana. Let her do her job.
BTW, can you guys remind me what was the song, where Rick Rock was talking on the phone - selling dope through his I-PHONE?
I don't see how it is related to the DAC upgrade, I mean, headphone jack doesn't stand in the way of doing it anyway. What I ocassionally fantasize about is Apple doing actual musical player, because current Ipods do not offer anything signifantly different from the phones, it's a phone without radio module. I use HiFiman HM-601, and it surpasses any phone in terms of sound, but I just miss the modern user experience with it, I mean slick album arts, instant lyrics, instant last.fm scrobble and so on. Apple have this huge music store, now these headphones, which I personally find to be merely atrocious in terms of look, though it is somehow considered to be their selling point, anyway, Apple just doesn't offer the most important link in the music consumption chain - players. I don't know, it's just that they mastered their craft of bringing pleasurable experience to their consumers and I can't think they would fail with audiophile players, especially when people are more informed about audio technologies.
It's one of the most unappealing songs of Madonna with Power of Goodbye being the other.
You workout. Good for you.. although not so much for your indie cred.
Oh, yeah, yeah, Nuclear Season's hook is definetely borrowed from It's My Life. Thanks.
R & B is just an ingridient in his dish. His talent is in making the modern uk bass-deep house gems.
adam, you are clearly not completely wrong. I mean, she seems to be a pleasant, good looking, good mannered, intellectual lady, but she.. doesn't appeall to me sexually. When now I think about it, I can say that I've never thought of spending a night with her. I've definitely thought about Lana for instance (especially after the recent video where she, despite the awfulness of dudes surrounding her, managed to present herself as such a sweet, vulnerable person). That said I often try to convince myself that there is something about Annie (or as we might know her by her more famous moniker - Street Vinz) that might make me wet my pants (in a manly way), but there is not, I can't see it. But I don't see myself agreeing with you concerning her music. It is definitely, without any doubt outstanding music. I still keep listenig to her Strange Mercy. O, by the way, I still don't understand how Father, Son and H G is the best album of 2011 (not saying that Strange Mercy is).
There may be a man named Will Bevan. He may even be the guy on the pic. But are we sure that he is a man behind Burial. What if Mr. Bevan is just posing for public or being his avatar IRL? It seems quite possible. That said I refuse to consider the Burial mystery to be solved.
Ok, thanks for a reason to have another listen of Killers. They rule, though I still hesitate to download their last effort. Why? Why do I not consider it important? I don't know, maybe I am persuaded by indie publications that Killers are no longer relevant and influential and are unable to bring anything new to the table. Or do I just feel guilty for not being loyal to my old favourites. Ok, anyway, here are my ten Killers songs I would take to an uninhabited island (which in other words is just what I consider to be their best) 10) Bones 9) Read My Mind 8) When You Were Young 7) Shadowplay 6) All The T T I've D 5) For Reasons Unknown 4) Mr B 3) On Top 2) Believe Me, Natalie 1) S Like U M It
Sometimes I wonder if I actually expect these musicians to release new albums or if I just want to go back to the moments I associate them with. By the way is there any news about SALEM guys? I mean, are they at least alive? Because I need some tracks to accompany my alcoholic november nights next year.
Afterlife=Reflektor=We Exist=Oh, Orpheus
It made its impact in 2012. you know it.
It's all about the explosion in the end of the song. It's so cathartic.
What is ununderstandable is how Chance the Rapper's verse considered to make that song significantly better than it already was.
1. Austra - Home 1. Annie - Invisible 1. Ducktails - Under Cover 1. Kurt V - Walking On a Pretty Day 1. Rhye - 3 Days 1. JT - Mirrors 1. James B - Digital L 1. Yuck - Rebirth 1. Little Boots - Confusion 1. A. Fire - Reflektor/We Exist/It's Never Over/Afterlife
Scott, thank you for the work you and your colleagues have done! Do not want to take your time further anymore, but if there's a data left over like 50-100 and the amount of points each album earned and which album took the greatest amount of #1, which you, without puting excessive effort, can share in comments thread, it would be appreciated, if you do so.
Oh, god! Typical comments threads. Mine should be separate.
I am sure Austra and Rhye are right on 51 and 52 spots.
Congratulations, ladies and gentlemen! It's perfect!
That's exactly how musicians should be earning money today. Give people something they can't get free otherwise, like this dream-team (but please make it a proper collab, not several oohs and aahs from each of the guys, do not half-ass it), make a studio version, live version, dvds, etc and you be profiting. I guarantee.
I would add Believe Me, Natalie and Shadowplay, if it's allowed, also my pick from third album would be Joy ride instead of Human. But, of course, greatest hits collections are better not have all of the really best in it.
As for me, it's just the etiquette. Are you making someone feel uncomfortable? Are you stealing someone's joy? If there is a chance you do, then stop it.
Well, the thing is, you have to take twenty shots to get the one which perfectly captures the moment.
I find myself agreeing with all these lists. I + u 4 having 5 & 7
I can agree with that.
Cardinal Song is certainly not one of ten of their best songs. It's somewhere between 25th and 31st. Which only tells us how many outstanding songs they have.
I stoped reading at the middle of the comments section, so I don't know if you didn't end up with being ok with that list. I am ok with it. Just got a slightly different set of favourites. I will put it like that: if I had to choose only ten National which I can carry into the future that would be: Anyone's Ghost Conversation 16 Sorrow Apartment Story Squalor Victoria Baby, We'll Be Fine Karen 90-Mile Water Wall Fasnion Coat and any song from thi first album
First keys of third song sound so reminiscent..oh! it's House Jam, isn't it!
Yeah, I don't know what's the rush with ol this lists. Can't we wait till February?
Yeah, so when Kanye spends the cash on shoes for Kim, he's not just wasting them, he's reinvesting them!
People, you should all wait till, say, midfebruary, before making conclusions! That's what I respect Oscar for!
I didn't bother watching video. I've just noticed Lindsay name. And I am here to say that she is one of the most beautiful women.
Sorta kinda. I mean, it's better not to expect anything and be surprised, than opposite. Not saying any of you lost your mind waiting for music made by Dre.
Oh, got ya. Thought you were meaning, the album is so tame, it shouldn't even be counted as one. Not that technically it is a soundtrack.
I can't understand why people underappreciate Idlewild. It's a convential great Outkast album. Not an exceptional one, but still the one to enjoy. How can an album with songs like Train, Chronometrophobia, Peaches, Mighty O, In your dreams and Morris Brown be bad? I am not raging, just wondering. It's a good example why I should not pay attention to the consensus society came to. I shall go and try listening some MDNA. Oh, and another little statement: what's the point of expecting something?
Funniness of a joke or a meme depends not on a time passed since its emergence, but on its appropriateness. This time it's quite appropriate. Especially if you think about how possible this scenario is.
