Hurray for the Riff Raff's The Navigator was maybe the most underrated album of the last decade. It was perfect. Very excited to check out this new one.
Text from my in-laws: "In your honest opinion, was that a good halftime performance?" After I said I liked it: "Good to know.... We just didn't get it?!?!?!"
Empath picked a bad week to release their album. It's really good.
Your weekend in general sounds glorious. Let us know your rankings when you're done.
This might be recency bias talking, but I have it as my second favorite Spoon album right behind Ga Ga Ga Ga Ga. It's extremely good.
Come on YBB, don't do this to me. Why do you have to make me mad on a beautiful Friday afternoon.
Spoon is so good, I can barely stand it. They make the exact kind of music I would want to make if I had any talent. It's ripped directly from my pleasure centers.
I think Red Moon, Simulation Swarm, and No Reason in some order. Time Escaping up there as well.
Seeing them in 14 days and I am extremely pumped. Ready to "WOO" like hell.
Great minds. https://twitter.com/catchadave/status/1492217831215173634?s=20&t=tZislPrObxpV0SvEhC1hZg
I hear you. But I like the tease.
One of Spoon's greatest strengths is pulling back just when you want them to really go for it. Same thing happens on "My Babe" -- with like 20 seconds left, you think they're going to break into a full-on U2 cathartic release as those Edge-like guitars get louder, and then BOOM, song's over. I love it so much.
Just finished watching. Beautiful. A nice reminder of what is important in life.
It's certainly #1 of the 2000s for me, so it very well might be.
Best currently working band. Yes, I said it. Another chill-inducingly excellent track.
I don't know, it feels like the whole ethos of Pitchfork and indie music critics in general in the last half of the 2010s was "the big art pop indie bands of 2009 were overrated," whereas Rolling Stone has always been in Bruce's corner.
