Holy overload of remarkable new music flying all up in my dome today. Mega overjoyed right now!
Such tragic news. Holy was and is still an extremely important record to me. Rest in peace Sam. Listening to Konny and Jim right now with watery eyes.
Im pretty surprised the music media didn't pick up on this, but i'm pretty sure Ed sadly left the band to go band to school. Can anyone fact check me on this? I read a post from him saying it was over. Its horrible news, so I hope i'm wrong. On the positive side, Daniel Rossen is working on a solo record.
...And I'm now done with any and all news. The name of this venue absolutely fucking destroys me.
Holy shit. This article was absolutely the catalyst for me rediscovering 'Where's There's a Will There's a Whalebone'. I completely forgot that tune blew my head apart as a young man. I'M FEELING THINGS PEOPLE.
Somewhere there's a recording of him doing the entire song. I need that.
I just watched Mac Demarco's part 47 times, and it never stopped being hilarious. The greatest Tom Delonge impression of all time.
And this is why I love the Stereogum commentariat. Almost every time I read an article on a band I love, someone goes and recommends gold. Vanishing Twin has absolutely brightened my day. Thank you!
'who told you to think??!!?!?!?!' is in my top 5 albums of last decade. And now Mr. Ferreira is kicking off this decade with an album that I'm sure will be in my top 5 of this decade. So grateful for his endless creativity and talent.
This new album gets better with every listen. And on the the nostalgic front, SKUNKS IS STILL GREAT!
Ya, I'd give this one a shot. My favorite of his is still 'Milk of Human Kindness'. But this new one has moments that remind of his earlier work, specifically the production. If it's his voice that's bugged you about his last 2 albums, then this one still might not be for you.
All that said, how 'Respectdue' didn't make the album is crazy. This album is gonna smack my face with euphoria.
This is absolutely gonna be album of the year for me. Shut down the rest of music. This is all I need.
Although I disagree with your statement, I will laugh loudly for the next 3 minutes.
Thanks for referencing Men I Trust. Never heard them before, just checked them out and YES.
In my irrelevant opinion, this is only a slight step down from Currents. We don't really sit with music anymore, we expect immediate satisfaction on first listen. Which Currents kinda did, and this one doesn't. This one is a slow burn, and repeated listens reveal a lot. It's certainly not without it's gems. There were moments where I experienced complete novel and exuberant enjoyment. And that is always a gift. So thank you, Kevin. Also, why he didn't start this long and drawn out album rollout with 'On Track' is beyond me.
And on second listen I"m pretty sure somebody just ripped this from a listening party using their iphone voicememos. I implore anyone who is even remotely a tame impala fan to avoid this leak like the plague. Just wait 11 more days. I really wish I had had the patience.
Same. The quality of the rip is so bad though. Like I feel really dirty for listening to it type bad.
Absolutely. And also this fantastic mix bag, which includes a great Hemlock Ernst feature. https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=YU5XeW31OVE
Also, I'm not sure exactly why I'm constantly reminded of Macintosh Plus's record "Floral Shoppe" so much lately, but I feel like Kevin Parker was 100% influenced by that album for The Slow Rush.
