I consider myself a bit of an anglophile, but I love how this show vastly increased my knowledge. The whole tidbit that Mrs. Hughes obligingly gives the audience explaining that housekeepers and cooks get the "Mrs." title regardless of their marital status was great stuff!
I love all the gifs, and look forward to them every week, but I think we can all agree that this one is extra special, yes?
Different topic, so different post. I didn't get any sense Bates was hot for Gwen (red head). Everyone is so mean, it's just throws people when folks like Bates smile! It's pretty obvious (to me) we are being set up for a Bates and Anna relationship. Makes sense that the two most decent people in the house would cling to each other--like a rescue boat for the Titantic (see what I did there?)
The emergence of Sybil (youngest daughter) as an actual character, and a nice one to boot, was definitely my favorite part of this ep. The typewriter scene was just freaky. They were staring at it so hard because most of them had NEVER seen one before. Some didn't even understand how it worked. It's really weird to me that the typewriter scandal was a plausible conversation real people could have had in a England in 1912.
Hah! Number 7 is Diamonds are Forever, yes? You can argue all day long about Connery vs. Moore, Bronson vs. Dalton. Heck, I will happily share a number of cocktails with a group of people engaged in this very kind of debate... But if you think Diamonds are Forever is anything but "tied for dead last" than I have nothing to say to you. So, Hotspur, fret not. Just skip it and move on. One of the best theme songs in the whole series is on the next film!
On a semi-serious note, there is actually a short animated film available on the Internet designed to explain 9-11 to kids. There's a website called BrainPOP that has a zillion edutainment videos, games, etc, that my kids were introduced to from school. I assumed I would hate this site, it but it's actually great, and they have a "What happened on September 11?" animated short. Simple and direct, without talking down to kids or pulling out emotional blackmail or over the top patriotism. My husband and I actually got a bit choked up watching our kids watching it. No I don't work for BrainPOP, but as soon as I saw this post, I thought of this.
Oh, someone is going to be taking this video to their grave, but I don't think it's going to be the sophmore....
Heh. Kids do this. A lot. I love my kids, and I want them to know that I cherish every wonderful, magical precious snowflake of an idea that they want to share with me, but when they start on one of these loops, it takes every ounce of my self-control to not scream SPIT IT OUT!
"Whoa. If you dropped a bomb on Norway we might not even have any stars left. Be more careful, stars! Spread out!" This is exactly what Randy and Evi have been trying to warn us about. I'm sure the Hollywood Star Wackers planned this entire shoot. I'm mean have you seen any of these stars lately? No. They're gone. All gone.
I think the problem here is folks aren't being specific. I personally would have preferred seeing him in dark-rinse jeggings.
Quick! Inspect the ice cubes coming out of that penguin to make sure there is no SLIME!
