I'm confused and may be reading your post wrong, but you know the order was Achtung, Zooropa then POP right...?
Zooropa came out when I was 13 and was a life-changer. Nothing from U2 would ever excite me or move me the way Achtung Baby and then, ESPECIALLY, Zooropa did. I'm barely a fan anymore...
Nope. Sorry Stereogum. But it's RAM for sure. For me at least! Listened to the stream about 20 times, now I have the album on repeat at home and in my car. Good God it's great. PERFECT start to the Summer. (Majikal Cloudz great too yes yes).
Meh yeah I was trollin' a bit here I suppose. Don't normally do that. You guys are down, and are excited about new music - well to me that's what life is all about. No hate here ;)
MAybe this is my problem with Kanye. I don't feel any "earnesty" at all.
Really? Downvoted to a hidden rating for asking for an explanation eh? (Well, I guess I did say he was terrible and lame.) But your explanation is an obvious one but doesn't change one thing: His music and lyrics are terrible. And lame. I mean, The Beatles didn't give a damn what was expected of them as far as being "Pop" goes either, but nearly everything they put out was pure Gold. Far a more modern example, look at the new Daft Punk record. It's divisive, it's a new path for them. They, like countless other acts, look to evolve with each release and aren't afraid to alienate fans who want them to just do one thing. But my question about Kanye stays the same: Why do you like the MUSIC? Why does he get away with it? It's terrible. And lame. Seriously, these two songs suck bad.
Sometimes I feel like I'm the only person alive who doesn't understand why awesome music blogs like Stereogum waste their time with this guy. Terrible. Lame. Can anyone help me see what I'm missing?
Oh wow. I've been a fan since the beginning, but both of these are better than expected...
Now this is more like it. I was hoping Britt would use the opportunity with a new band to widen his musical palette, instead of recording songs that sound EXACTLY LIKE SPOON SONGS!!!!
awesome avatar. and yes this is something great.

Well, I'm loving this. Huge fuckin Spoon fan. But after hearing Would That Not Be Nice and now Flaggin a Ride... well I guess I just hoped that Brit would take this opportunity to do something different. I mean, they both sound like Spoon songs. Like, exactly like Spoon songs.. right?
Yippeeeeeeee! Seriously though, cool.
To be fair, each record is meant to be stylistically different...
Oh.. my..... Catchy in a way. But yeah... hmmm. The "Lyric Video" certainly didn't do this track any favors, that's for sure.
yes. this is... well i was going to say better than expected. but actually its exactly what I expected, and its great. there has to be an album coming, right? I mean, I know they already did Fool's Day as a one-off single, but, c'mon.....
So what, everyone's just completely over that shit? I'm just sayin, those tracks will always find a way into my Summer Cruisin'. However, Japandroids and Walkmen just recently delivered a double-punch of perfect-summer awesomness that I think will have a hold on me for quite a bit.
Shite. Frustrating. Oh well, I still have Videogames and Blue Jeans on my Summer Playlist.
Adore is easily as underrated as Mary Star.
