I am satisfied with both purchases, so from my point of view, all is well.
I remember Best Buy was selling this album on vinyl WITH CD for only $15 flat. That was my second vinyl record I ever bought, purely out of "that's a good deal" feelings, and it made me get a record player and get into that whole revival. My first record was the In Rainbows box set, which was the fastest $80 I ever spent.
I remember people saying the same thing back when In Rainbows came out.
I'm in a band that did a couple Daytrotter sessions, and we've had nothing but good experiences with them. We're just a tiny little group, but they took interest in us, asked us about what the songs were about, and generally made us feel more important than we were/are. They could be a bit hard to communicate with online, though, with long stretches of ghosting, but honestly, they all seemed like great folks. Sucks this happens. I hate it when good people have beefs with other good people.
Well I think this is pretty hilarious and fun. "IOU" is a near perfect Tom Waits parody. Kind of weird why that's wedged in here, but I love it.
"I'm Wide Awake, It's Morning" has filled me with many happy memories from my younger days.
That is a fantastic track.
Quality stuff. I hope he gets a bit more attention for his work this time around.
This makes me just as excited as a new Radiohead record would. Loved Familial.
It's different, but still a worthy and top notch addition to their catalog.
Maybe it's a bit old by music industry stand-points, but "I Couldn't Be Your Friend" by Tegan and Sara is a winner in my books. That and "Diane Young."
It still is good. It's a bit different, but still hilarious.
In terms of the buying merch and going to shows part, I'm with you. But, it should be said that you shouldn't confuse your enthusiasm for an artist by posting on blogs, tweeting, facebooking, telling friends, etc. with support for that artist by things you said you do like going to shows, buying merch there, etc. There is a clear distinction.
Rereading it in that light, I can see what you're saying, and I think he is actually saying something more like that. It seems to me he's just angry that people think some art is better than other art, where as he would just like everyone to appreciate all art equally.
Can we get a link to the interview he's referencing? What did Radiohead even say that was filled with "pomposity"?
Is the cover art going to be like those bumper stickers?
The song is alright as a whole, but yeah, that fuzzbass definitely makes it sound like a Ben Folds Five track and not just another Ben Folds track.
That looks awesome. Kind of reminds me of the Charlie Darwin video from the Low Anthem.
