It was way to familiar sounding haha, weird to try to freshen up some already released material, Nehru is sweet on this track for sure but I was hoping for something totally new, gotta scope the rest of the release
This is a recycled DOOM beat though?? Def a Special Herbs beat if not on one of DOOMs many projects, am I wrong?
well... I actually still really like Wayne and the Lips... The Miley "friendship" + Collabs, not so much... This "film" I didn't hate at all, short enough for me watch, enjoy its wackiness and move on, the main issue I have is just the amount of collaborations the Lips do... I like their albums, but nothing with "fwends" ever really gets me going, even their collab with Lightening Bolt wasn't super epic. I just feel like the Lips need to go be hermits for a few years somewhere far away and come back with another classic... but the Wayne hate is lame, hes a kick ass front man for a kick ass band and who he affiliates himself with shouldn't be the end of the road for his fans. Just put on Soft Bulletin and realize why they rule and move on, pay these "stunts" or projects and cover albums no mind, they have too much good music to write them off as a shitty band now. and THE TERROR rules, so for me they havnt fallen off just yet... ALSO... Electric Wurms sounds promising from whats out, so, less hate on the Lips and Wayne huh? maybe? anyone?
I mean Kliph is a sweet drummer, Wayne is a great frontman, this situation sucks but doesn't make me dislike Wayne, The albums speak for themselves and I will absolutely look forward to new Lips stuff even if Kliph isn't involved- And to speak the comments above about the Lips being a money hungry stunt band, I agree with whoever brought up The Terror... That album doesn't scream accessibility at all, it doesn't contain a "happy" or "dark horse" in any sense The whole Miley, Kesha, etc... gimmick I cant speak on, I'm with Kliph on that, worst collab decisions, especially when chosen over DEERHOOF. Oh the crazy world of rock n rollers...
ADD BLACK DICE TO THE WOLF EYES SHOW 1/18 ( BLACK DICE RULES AT THIS VENUE AND EVERY VENUE OBV BUT BD+WE TOGETHER RULES ALWAYS... )
I'm obviously late but would like to add a bit just because... When you say that Hip-Hop is just looping beats and samples and that is all kanye/hip-hop artists do is extremely untrue and just overlooking the art that is music making/producing. Kanye over almost any Hip-Hop artist is on his "god" level, so to speak, because he doesnt just take a sample and loop it- the instrumentation on his albums is fucking incredible! now it may not be kanye himself shredding up a guitar and playing sweet-sweet violins and horn sections- but the dude is def a wizard on the keys/synths/etc... and wouldnt have a single lick played on his album that he didnt craft at least the idea of, whether it was based on an existing riff or not, his albums and hundreds of other hi-hop albums incorporate more instrumentation than some full band recordings... just sayin- Kanye is good, really good, whatever he says/does in the public eye can make him look like this, or that, but he's still really, really good. One of the best IMO. I think about if
YES. very conflicted and agree with your comment 100% Right after i heard twisted fantasy through it felt amazing, like the best shit ever, head fucked and mind blown, but with yeezus I just wanted it to be over so I could go eat. Kanye is my favorite rap artist by far but yeezus is missing the kanye magic im used to getting. I like 5 out of the 10 tracks. Opens great then goes to sleep for me only to conclude on a pretty good Bound 2. oh yeezus.
Death Grips rules- The Money Store is a much more compelling listen than Yeezus, in my opinion, just grabs my attention more. This is a very droney Kanye here, not saying I hate it, but find all other KW releases to be miles better, minus WTT and Cruel Summer.
yeah, Samuels here! Where's Wolf?
wow, new vampire weekend is actually really lackluster for me, i love the first two albums by them a lot from front to back but I struggled through the whole modern vampires idk.... daft punk is in a good spot and chance the rapper acid rap is really good too- im just gonna call it now cause im a big fan... but number 1 has got to be reserved for YEEZUS!
mmm- I havnt felt too good about future DOOM stuff and this makes that feeling more real- the JJ DOOM was good but not up to the standard I feel DOOM has set- seems to spitting way slow in these newer works- lyrics arnt terrible but just doesnt compare to the mmm food stuff or madvillain, you know?
Can someone post the "best" Radiohead tattoo? just to compare...
yeah i mean, i like burnout, monkey riches and applesauce- but i haven't played this album in months- I agree that they are capable of MUCH MUCH better.
Bada$$ killed it, such a better track.
aside from maybe rabbit and my girls animal collective videos are always so lame to me- which is wack because they are my fav experimental group- i got really excited seeing Noe on this one but really? the whole video is someone eating fruit? i would have liked it more if the screen was just flashing wild colors with nothing else going on honestly. the song has too much going on in it to have such a drag of a visual.
Jay-Z is still an amazing rapper.
my thoughts exactly- I thought Genesis right away and Of Montreal.
Just saw Django great flick- I could see this track "not fitting" like Tarantino mentions- but the film aside this song is really great- Glad to see Ocean staying consistent with being awesome.
honestly i liked their album and mixtapes, but these guys came off as not caring and shitty to me from the start- i saw them a few times and each set was as poor as the last- they just just seemed totally not in it- out of practice- and sloppy- made me not really care about them as much as other up and coming rap acts and the news of this break up is funny if anything- ends up being a big whatever...
yeah everything from this album has fallen short for me- totally obsessed with kanye too- its not a solo album so i can understand the wackness to a degree- but shit- anything with 2 chainz on it more than once just pushes me away- we'll have to wait til 2013/14 for some real new shit from kanye...
didnt see the correction earlier- dont hate
correction in the chores blerb- panda is def lead vocalist avey doesnt do much of the singing on that track, chores is a panda jam- he did it solo a lot and all that- just sayin' i have a friend who thought deakin sang on the whole new centipede hz... people confuse who's singing in this band all the time but i think it's pretty easy to tell if youre an avid listener i think this list needed kids on holiday
i only listen to maybe 3 groups on this list- but the rest of it isnt close to the worst bands out there.
i'm seeing problems with this release. the point of putting out a record is so people can hear it. not everyone is a talented musician. as far as the people who can read and play the music, a cover of a song doesnt do much unless you know what it is your covering. just seems pointless to release without the audio. i do love intricate album art and liner notes though, so i give 2 thumbs up on that level, it looks awesome, i want to have it, but i also want to hear it. will he play it live on tour? hope so.
i liked how airy a lot of yellow house was- lots of just creepy rests and what not- just slowed down and sad sounding with these big bursting riffs... didnt care for veckamist (or however you spell it) and this track is just kind of whatever- theres no wow moment no ooooo listen to that moment except for the outro of the song that gets kind of crazy. whatever, grizzly bears good im sure the cd wont be terrible. to all the AC comments- todays supernatural is much more interesting and rewarding than this track here. just got a lot more going on with an over all stand out vocal line and it just makes me anxious with all of its swirly-ness. i dont know- who cares
Snarky Opinion: saw them open for dirty p recently- bored me restless- the rhythms were alright but didnt coax me into buying a cd or downloading anyhting. but nobody asked me, so i guess im done here
covers not bad- just as wild as the other promotional stuff they been using for this album- ugly, yes- but i think the sounds on this will make sense with the art- im sure it will be a wonderfully absurd release
i really hope swing lo as a whole is just as great as bitte and rise above... im really not into trigger or dance for you- those 2 tracks just dont bring the ultra intense vocal arrangements or guitar work like a lot of the songs on the other albums- im excited either way- just saying these 2 previews fall short for me- and i liked angel so i might be stubborn seeing as shes absent from this album
death grips is at 18 so im off there- but still id have it above the 15 mark- yeaaaaaa
grimes and death grips should def be up there- i don't agree with a 20 slot for either of those- just sayin' those albums are killer.
Dave: You should be able to learn the riffs, but you'll have to sing like Angel too. Old man: How much am I getting paid for this? Amber: hehehehe
Hate to be the first hater but being a big fan I'd have to say this was rather boring for a Liars song.
