It's just like a fourteen year old girl's opinion of a boy she likes/loathes. . . .
Just. don't. get. him. at.all. He overproduces his music to the point of unreality & his so called 'flow' does nothing for me whatsoever.
Oasis fan I take it, good one ahahaha. No comparison to Blur really in my book but Oasis is aaiiight.
Ba ba ba ba BUGMAN was the first song to jump into my head 'cause it just f'n ROCKS!
Love this song, that's some killer editing on the vid but it's making me kinda nauseous, haha. Those Bjork remixes are killer. Surprised they were asked to remix her but good decision!
I've always loved remixes of Bjork's & think they usually improve her originals, imo. This is no exception. In fact, I don't much care for Biophilia, it's way too mellow for me.
Reminds me a lot of Funkadelic & Tom Tom Club. Love it!
Sounds like a cross between Peter Murphy & Zola Jesus on that first song. I love it.
I'd say it's far more New Order than JD but can hear Depeche Mode in there too(and yes I know New Order started out as JD. I'm a huge fan of both).
Wow, what a fascinating reinterpretation. Love the tempo changes. It's like a mini soul opera all wrapped up in 5:43.
It's good but needs vocals!
I'm not convinced about your anger, haha. Some of us do enjoy JA still. Have you heard the single they released, it is classic JA.
I recall going to a favorite bar/dance club of mine at the time 'Smells Like Teen Spirit' was popular on their 'alternative' music night where they played my favorite songs. Of course, they played SLTS and everyone got out on the dance floor and went into wild fits of rage during the chorus. It was so primal, as each person was working out their own private sense of angst in a very public setting, together. There was also a real sense of comraderie, like we were all privy to a secret club from the underground that made us all specially branded with our anger. I always have that memory burned into my brain when I hear SLTS until I die.
Kate Blanchett. She did a great job at portraying Dylan in 'I'm Not There'.
TFL are a truly amazing band & continue to evolve & push the boundaries of their fanbase as well as their music. Every band should be as boldly experimental w/their sound as these guys! Thanks for these, sounding great just w/the first 'Butterfly' song. And also, they are one of the most fun bands to see live. They know how to throw a wild ass psychedelic rock n roll partay! Just saw them in my hometown back in June at Harmony Festival. Just amazing!
Why don't you have a sample of the song so I can know if I want to dl it?
I think it's a pretty groovy cover. At least he did something different w/it by slowing it down & not just doing a note for note cover.
He is emulating Raphael Saadiq in his sound & look in this. And that CGI cat is really quit a detraction! Unfortunate they couldn't have gotten Andre for the vid. Btw, I love Idlewild & own it. I think Andre was great in it.
No, it's explains why they took so f'n long to put a 2nd album out. They were f'n around in the studio & elsewhere. No wonder we're FINALLY getting their sophomore slump!
Exactly. This is why those of us Sigurheads love them so, for their cryptic strangeness that is so intriguing. If you're bored by this, you're not a true fan. . . .I own their dvd 'Heima' which has many moments on it like this & is purely delightful.
Great song, reminds me of The Mary Onettes.
Those bastardos took off w/o Sanitgold! Great vid, love it.
These are some good rockin' tunes. Morrissey's still got it! I love that there are so many older rockers who have recently released some of the best material of their careers like Peter Murphy(who released 'Ninth' just last week), Gang Of Four and Wire.
Yea ballet is very scary, if you're not familiar with it. . . .
Sounds very Bjorkian. . . .
Phantom Lord is a great one, that's my fave!
He sounds more than a little like Flowers. . . sounds great too.
'forgiven for uneven subsequent efforts.' Haha, their last two albums are my faves since the 'uneveness' is what has saved them from regurgitating the same sounds as those first two albums. Their sophomore album was just 'This Is It' part 2 & not very interesting imo. I love it when musicians change things up & try new things. I wasn't that interested in them until 'First Impressions. . . ' came out.
They are not overrated whatsoever!!! I've seen them in person live twice & they are quite incredible as they are here. If anything they need to be more appreciated by the general public.
I love 'I Can't Wait'! Uniquely funky. Rest of the album is great too.
