Wow this interview was truly one step forward, 48 steps back. (Glad he’s against the death penalty I guess?)
Planning to donate at the t-shirt level (eyeing that riff on Sonic Youth) next week. More incentives you say? Tell me how long to wait.
This movie was way better/funnier than I expected and I LOVED the songs.
Nearly lifelong Tennessee resident here. Lost my job due to COVID and have tried very hard to take all necessary precautions and strictly follow guidelines for...ah, right, nearly four fucking months. To say I’ve been let down (again) by my home state is an understatement. I fucking can’t anymore.
“Antebellum” being problematic was well known to me but I have to admit “Dixie” was a blind spot. That said, though I have been known to use and like the term, I’m all for confronting implicit biases, revealing blind spots, and changing names/pulling down monuments. So...long live the Chicks!
Fuck, no need to apologize. That was the single most exciting minute of music I’ve heard all year. (And that is NOT a takedown of any other music I’ve heard this year.)

Not only does this venue remain closed, they’ve yet to actually open. Their opening date ended up being in the middle of a pandemic.
Yeah, the lack of nuance in their take is glaring, but it’s not even remotely close to defending Hitler.
Wasn’t there a whole thread on this website somewhat recently where no one seemed to know who Suzi Quatro was? Might have been somewhere else.
I'm a mark for this. If it were fifteen bucks I'd have purchased it immediately, impulse buy without shame. I gotta balk at that price though. Damn.
Yep, very fun record. The Knitters actually put out a second album in 2005.
A few thoughts - Everything you said about the first two albums is true but I am also quite partial to the third, "Under The Big Black Sun". Though I don't think you were necessarily saying it wasn't, I just want to note that some (most?) of that alt-country leaning stuff was pretty good ("See How We Are" is a wonderful song). Now to the bad stuff...some members of this band are practically alt-right leaning at this point. Exene in particular, as much as I love her (and God I do love her still, somehow) is a paranoid conspiracy freak. I'd be willing to bet she's hollering about reopening the economy and something incoherent about the bill of rights somewhere right now. That said, I definitely can't wait to check this out. It's complicated sometimes, this music nerd thing.
I don’t have a dog in this fight and I have no idea what the truth is, but it bums me out.
So it was twenty years ago today...that Ulrich tried to get the fans to pay?
This is what I was basically saying in my comment above, I just used too many words. FUCKFUCKFUCKFUCKFUCKFUCKFUCK!
Might I also suggest "Steven Universe"?
