Well, in addition, the bands you mentioned all seemed to be at the forefront of their sound. Coldplay may change with every album, but that's only because the sounds of pop music have shifted so drastically over the past 10 years, and as we all know, Coldplay are really good at making music that sounds exactly like something else.
Maybe that's a talent in and of itself.
Good lord people, have a little fun and wear a mask or something. I went to the Brooklyn show and it was not strictly enforced. This is an awesome idea that lends itself perfectly to the atmosphere the band is creating for their show. Get over it.
I mean, the article sums it up pretty well. James Murphy came out, the 'band' came out, they were playing horribly, my friend and I were on the side closest to the real stage. As the 'band' was sucking, I could hear Haitian drumming coming from the side. It kept getting louder and finally I started to push through some people with my friend just as the curtain came down. Then things got nuts. Not too nuts, thankfully, but it really gave the feeling of an amped up crowd at a kick-ass concert. Some people were complaining around me, but I mean, we were in a warehouse in Brooklyn, at a show we knew NOTHING about, in costumes. People should've been going in there expecting anything and everything.
I was there, and the bum rush was nuts, and the ending was awkward, but anyone who leaves that show complaining that they didn't get enough or that they felt duped obviously did not understand what they were signing up for. It was incredible. INCREDIBLE.
