I think it rules out lollapalooza. I'm not sure that rules out p4k. I feel like I've seen a few shows from bands who played pitchfork that were pretty close to the festival date (and they weren't after shows or anything like that). Maybe I'm remembering it wrong. Still, I have a feeling p4k won't happen this time around for arcade fire.
They're playing here in September at my favorite venue, but I've resisted getting tickets solely because I'm pretty sure they can't last the whole month and a half until the show.
They were the band I hoped would show up in the lineup, but because I could only go one day I ended up missing out to go Saturday. Really enjoyed Saturday so I'm not complaining. I do regret not getting a chance to see Chairlift, but hopefully they'll be around again soon.
I give the rain more credit than Rustie. We stopped at the blue stage for his set and I was less than thrilled. I saw less of a reaction to his choice of tracks and more of a response to the velocity of the rain. I did see, rain or not, a ton of white folk on the fringes doing silly dances as a defense mechanism, however.
Somehow I don't think the official video will be as good as the leaked one. Yeah, it'll be more polished, but it still will be an awful idea. It'll just be a less funny one now because you won't have this level of graphics to counterpoint how seriously it will manage to take itself. Perhaps, Kanye should computer generate all of his public appearances from now on for this very reason.
I'm pretty sure at some point there was an author of one of these lists who made a really "popular" choice for a high-ranked song and not only did the comments start to build up but the number of readers swelled to unbelievable proportions as well, and I can't help but believe that this spawned a trend for the site. I think the lists often become a bit of baiting (maybe with the exception of the Walkmen list a while back...a list I was glad to see every single song from at a concert just a couple of weeks later), but in the end once people get over their anger about the inclusion or exclusion of songs, the real fun starts when individual lists from readers pop up and start getting discussed. That's part of the fun of a communal music experience, right?

Excellent, varied selections here. I love the idea of this weekly feature, and now I feel like it's delivering on its promise. Not bad only a few weeks in.
