Yah IDLES is that corny cringe performative from the right place woke knuckle-tat bro punch every misogynist in the fookin face mate aggro wink but not really bullshit that I just think does not need to exist goodnight
saw them play what I assume was most of this record on an increasingly rare minneapolis billy and can confirm it is very good once again my friend
i mean i don't think it's a straight rip of 90's design? everything is an echo of the past, so yah I think tweaked nostalgia can be fresh.
Hey uh do people really want them to keep using the mid-2000s Important Austere Indie Band aesthetic? I get that you maybe don't like where design is trending today, and that the sort-of brutalist/90's nostalgia stuff is polarizing, but also it's fun and playful and fresh?? Aesthetics are obviously subjective, so think what you want, but I for one am happy to see them branch out and try to keep pace with the moment.
Hah this is the name of a very good album Citric Dummies made some time ago. https://erstetheketontraeger.bandcamp.com/album/ett-058-citric-dummies-the-kids-are-alt-right-lp https://erstetheketontraeger.bandcamp.com/album/ett-058-citric-dummies-the-kids-are-alt-right-lp
Honestly and obviously i'm here for Sufjan, Moses, and Annie... but if I wasn't already, I am now CONFIRMT in love with Gael GarcĂa Bernal.

I listened to the song again and I've gotta say that my opinion has changed some, some, and I understand why the votes on my previous comment were down, down.
I dunno, all due reverence aside, this sounds like cargo shorts music to me.
They're just fun. I have an old car with a cassette player. It's fun to pop in a physical copy of current record into an old car and listen to it over and over again without loading/cherry picking tracks. It's similar to why people enjoy letting a record play through as a Record. Vinyl fer yer car! Fuck the warm sound/aura. Tapes aren't coming back proper, but there's no reason to get upset about people producing/buying/enjoying them. Lots of noisy bands sound cool on a noisy format. If I ever want to listen to Joanna Newsom's fingernails on the harp strings, I'll just pono that shit.
Hey this is very good!
This is very very good news. I'm very very excited!
I'll be dat guy. Just gave it a second listen, this time with headphones. Woooofta. Some crazy sonic blippeez and gurgles and channel slides and a lot more going on than through computron speakers. It's good either way, but a lot more fun with headphones on.
I'm digging it more than anything since A Ghost is Born. Even seems Loose Fur-y at times which I think is a good direction to work towards. Maybe Jim O'Rourke was involved in some capacity? I know there were some conflicting reports about a new Loose Fur record coming this year or next.
Was digging a couple of months back and found this. At the veeeeery end of this article it mentions, "Kotche is also a member of the trio Loose Fur, along with Jim O'Rourke and Jeff Tweedy, who have just recorded their third studio record." http://www.broadwayw...-Today-20140324 Maybe one of the records he mentioned?
Yeah, it's kind of like how I always make sure to fart in my car right before I get out. Just in case somebody steals it while I'm shopping at Home Depot.
A big reason why I like this song is because it reminds me that the Ghostbusters theme exists.
If some of these returntorootsfolksongs have a bit of noisy electric guitar flourishes in them (a la Pickerel Lake), I'll be a happy camper.
