Eeeeeh. I was at this show. There was quite a bit of cat calling/"look how funny I am" type-things being shouted in between songs, and I'm pretty sure the gang around this camera was involved. At one point, SVE just said "Uhhh...help?" to her bandmates. I mean, she took it all in stride, but it was preeeetttaaay annoooooying.
I was having the same issue.

The song is fuckin rad.
I don't really think he's "jumping the shark". The past Christmas records have all had little rambling 1-take tunes like this. Maybe the song doesn't warrant a post, but it's another listen from a goofyfun set of new songs.
I was right next to the person filming this, just behind the pit. It was an incredible show, I couldn't have handpicked two artists I'd rather see collaborate. Really cool to see them perform on each other's material with all that brass. Aaaaaand they had a theremin battle during Northern Lights.
Headphones reveal a lot of really great details on this thing as well. I've probably given it 8 or so straight-through listens now, and as is the case with a lot of the Dirty Projectors material, a little familiarity goes a long way. I really like the looser production and the folkier elements mixed in with the fractured punkfunk shit they do so well. Not a perfect comparison, but I'm ready to declare the Dirty Pros a Talking Heads for the 21st Century.
I'm still waiting for the Drake-as-Obama film we were PROMISED.
