" mostly disastrous Tyranny" ok, from that sentence, I didn't read the rest. Tyranny is a gem, needs many listens to get it, but it's a real great album.
I don't know if it's cool cause the concept is great, or bad because it looks so much like a publicity stunt disguised as an hommage. Maybe even more so when 3/4 of the people there are filming and taking photos instead of celebrating.
So if the VMA "jury" is racist, that's why they nominated her in the other categories ? That's why beyoncé received shit tons of VMAs ? As much as racism is still important in the US, this must be the poorest excuse to use the "it's racism" card. The Spotify/TIDAL thing on top is just nonsense.
Finally, whining about not being nominated for ANY award is ridiculous if you don't have any proof it comes from something other than just tastes of the jury ...
You talk way too much, damn, this song is a classic. Like every song from the first 2 Strokes album in fact. I would love a "Is this it/Room on Fire" tour.
This is hard to listen to this and not think "Ok so it's cool but it's a blind copy of Tune-Yards, not anything else". With cockyness inside, just to make it a bit more "edgy".
There is litteraly nothing connecting Soak to Lorde, except for the fact Stereogum writers have an obligation of name-dropping Lorde or Kanye in any news. I mean really, she plays folk music with a sweet broken voice, and meaningful lyrics. No anthem, no "fashionable" hip hop beat, no "yeah" here and there to sound cool. No posing etc ...
All anyone can hope for is for her to never turn like Lorde in fact, in we gotta talk about Lorde (which is even less interesting than talking 'bout the next time Kanye rants about something).
Watch Kanye do this, watch Kanye say that, Watch someone criticizing Kanye, Watch someone starting a beef with Kanye, watch Kanye start a beef with someone, watch Stereogum being anynewsaboutkanye.com
"Does this mean it's over ? Please ?", then "he’s spent the past few weeks backtracking and clarifying his comments in just about every interview he’s given"
I'm sensing you're one of those people who think this wasn't a big deal and Kanye can say whatever he wants, he's just "a genius who has the balls to say what he thinks", right ?
Also, Stereogum lives more and more through those type of news, just count how many "Kanye controversy" you publicize, how many "Taylor Swift moved a finger" news you publish and follow ups on as many beefs as you can get.
I like you Stereogum, but don't pretend to not care for all those beefs and "trash news" as some call it.
Wow, Best Coast gets more boring every album. Liked the first one, didn't care for the second, now I think they aim for "we're just unbearable". Also, it kinda makes me NOT wanna visit California one day, which is a first in any california-related music I've listened to.
I'm sorry Stereogum, but I gotta ask : how low can you go to get more clicks (I wouldn't understand any other reason for those empty news about Kanye's new shoes, Lorde's comments, or every tweet Azealia Banks ever wrote).
Death Grips shot a special interactive clip for MTV, anti-establishment my ass. This band has good songs, but is also a freakin joke, and it amazes me every day how many fans just jumped on their whole "experimental concept" as if they were the true artists when they have been mainly sell outs and douchebags (cancelled concerts every few months ? Fake concert with no band and a soundtrack ? pick one or other examples)
He deserves to be payed more than most of rock headliners today, though I really don't want him to play in front of a clueless audience, and I don't want to see a Ty Segall concert without being able to be 1st row.
His music is the best rocknroll around these years, but it's not made for coachella headlining. And remember when the black keys became a headliner ? They died inside. Don't wanna sell Ty's soul !
