Late-entry contender for a top spot on the summer jams playlist. Awesome awesome awesome.
I've said this every time Maron gets mentioned on Stereogum, so I'll say it again: "LOCK THE GATES!"
I think a wise man once said, "I hate [the paparazzi] more than the Nazis."
Woah woah woah guys, let's not judge too harshly or too quickly because if I'm looking at this picture correctly, there also seems to be a black t-shirt option! That alone is worth the price of admission.
I keep thinking that, until someone puts it on at a bar after two or three drinks.
All of the nominees, one big playlist, brats, beer, fireworks, more beer, vodka tonics, more brats, burgers, regret, fireworks, beer, sleep.
My paycheck didn't get deposited into my account this morning. It's foggy and rainy outside here. I'm running on no coffee and no sleep. But this is just enough to keep me going till five.
I like this album and I'm a huge Animal Collective fan, but this seems like a minor entry in their catalog. That being said, I'll throw it on during a lazy Fall day in a heartbeat. Anyway, I'd like to nominate "Pony Express Record" by Shudder to Think as a future episode of this column. It's kinda been forgotten in the collective music journalism consciousness, which is unfortunate because it's a front-to-back great record.
This is the second best news I've heard all day!
This reminds me of that awesome Zach Galifianakis bit where he talks about going into record stores and asking about fake bands. "Do you guys have the new Frisbee Confusion?"
Woah woah woah... Mr. Nelson, you don't like Paul McCartney?! He had the best post-Beatles solo career!
Moz's discography is pretty unwieldy, and like the Smiths his singles were paramount, so more power to ya for throwing this together. That being said, "Piccadilly Palare" is my personal favorite.
Ugh. That's all I've got to say about that.
Carly Rae is getting straight up robbed right now. FUN.?! No fun at all.
Yeah they were a "conscious" rap group before Fergie got thrown into the mix. Not the best, but pretty passable stuff.
Since early 1992! Kevin Shields is the biggest tease.
I don't really get the prevailing reaction to these lists. When the #1 song/album isn't the generally agreed-upon Zeitgeisty pick (e.g. "Soft Bulletin" for the Lips one, "My Girls" and "Grass" for the AC one, etc.), everyone gets all up in arms (i.e. "THIS IS SHIT!"). When it IS the #1 pick (like this), everyone gets all up in arms (i.e. "THIS IS TOTAL SHIT). I think someone below put it nicely, "Hey Ya!" is one of a very small handful of moments I can remember in my lifetime of twenty-one years when everyone said, "Yes, this song is special." And the other big names on here ("Roses", "So Fresh, So Clean", and "B.O.B.") are really untouchable singles, so why not include them on this list? Hell, I'd throw "The Way You Move" on here too; that chorus is smooth as butter. In summation: cool your jets, Stereogummers, and remember that this is one guy's opinion.
