I'm not a fan of this in any way. The melody is too similar to Ray Charles, the electronic direction they are going is bland and just having Mavis on it is great, but they should have worked with her on a better cut.
36 years old and yep- genuinely in to it. Hit me like a ton of bricks when I finally heard it in like 1999- then immediately got Arab Strap and the singles when I could. it was constantly being put on to mix tapes to awfully unappreciative young lassies too.
I know it's dad-core as hell, but knopfler's solo in "tunnel of love" gets me every time.
"Diamond Dogs" without a shadow of a doubt. This time of year always reminds me of when I first heard d it in my friends dorm. I'm gonna stick it on now in fact...
Don't get me wrong- "King" is still one of my faves of the era- wAs really delighted to hear of this reunion but damn she is so off pitch when she sings. Hoping some monitors and a few shows sort this out for Tanya.
I just got into Isbell the last few months - sadly missing his last show here in Aarhus, DK. This guy - he's the only songwriter for A LONG time that has dropped me in my tracks and made me weep. I had to sit down once when "Elephant" came on. I feel weird saying this - but he makes Ryan Adams (good Ryan Adams - not when he's trying to prove how punk he is) look a little like a hack.
Awesome song indeed - but the camera editing is making me ill!
Blige had 'scheduling conflicts' with making a film that would certainly get her a bunch of awards, cred and album sales. What's the fucking 411 with THAT?
I hope Sunny Day Real Estate come out of this..,,
120mb iPod might be a typo - still - another crackin' read on the state of shit right now.
DK is the bees knees. 8000 4 life.
Guys: the Yung EP is called; "these thoughts are like manditory chores", and they are from Denmark - not Sweden.
ah now - you were entertaining the first tome now fuck off with insulting the people that read this blog.
I think Neil Hamburger takes that cake.
What is the point of this article? To try and make it seem lke interest for Kozelek is shrinking? There are alot of factors to blame for a venue not selling out. I mean the venue's PR, weather, another show in town, it's making Koz, the venue and Lincoln, Nebraska look bad..dare i bring up what happened a week ago?. anyway - i'm off to a show that has about 50 people attending.
I'm pretty sure I had this on those damn "Outcesticide" bootlegs that i payed 25.00 for a disc for out of some dudes trunk at Lollapalooza - but i think we all can agree that "Verse Chorus Verse" on No Alternative was the only version we need to hear. Still though - I hope someone gets around to properly mastering all of those boots floating around out there...
This is very good news.
You know that feeling when you walk into a pub on holiday and the locals just look up for a second with that look....
