You're pretty much the only person I've seen with Seigfried even near their top ten, much less at the very top. Such an underrated song.
This girl looks like she's perpetually on the cusp of falling asleep or getting blown away by the wind. She makes some pretty songs though.
I'm convinced John Travolta doesn't know how to be a human.
I want so bad for goddamn Tom Delonge to blow some UFO conspiracy wide open, which, surprisingly, is sounding less shocking as months go by.
A new Gorillaz record is one of those things that still feels like an event to me, like a Radiohead, Kanye, whatever, so color me very excited.
Adam & Eve will get its due someday.
Going Away to College for that sappy as shit, but all together wonderful chorus. Really, lots of their early stuff was surprisingly mature sounding-ish and still holds up pretty well.
My Takeaways: Bill Hader's got grooves and Fred Armisen could beat me in a staring contest.
It probably won't get talked about much, but that Beach Baby record's a jam and would have been perfect 3 months ago.
Siegfried hasn't been mentioned enough. Besides Nikes, it might be my favorite off the album.
I know they did this with some personal gain in mind but thank Christ. Now that I've said that, there's probably some long-term detrimental effects I don't know about.
I wish more messes ended up like The Sun The Sea
It's just, when Don pops his coat off right when the drums kick in, that might be one of my favorite pieces of television. This piece was awesome, I just like talking about that. Y'all should start a video website, name it Moviegum, something like that.
Once I learned the singer used to be a church youth leader, it all made sense.
Towards the end I felt what I assume is addiction. The constant re-clicking, the wanting just a little bit more, those were strange times.
Similarly, I used to work in a restaurant whose BOH's radio station played pretty exclusively music like this, Godsmack, rhcp (Lubbock, tx),and no other song got everyone to join in like when the chorus of 'What I Got' came on. It may have been equally as awesome, if it didnt also happen to play once a shift. And that about sums up my experience with both listening to Sublime and working in restaurants.
I know it's kind of uneven but Even if it Kills me is my favorite MCS album. The hooks, production, the lyrics; it honestly feels like a modern day Cars, which, considering Ric Ocasek produced a few songs on it, probably isn't a coincidence. And Last Night just hits me so hard.
I Feel Like Dying is quintessential baking music
I too got excited reading the headline, only to be let down
Benji franklin's autobiography. You'll feel completely useless afterwards. Some people like that
Summer Music: Neon Indian, Wye Oak (Hot as Day kills), early Blink 182, and lots of Vampy Weeks and Jamie xx. Pretty basic, but goes well with sunburns.
I don't buy a ton of vinyl, because it's Goddamn expensive and I'm Goddamn broke, but I've always wanted it turn it into more a hobby, so reading this was a drag to say the least. But this write-up, man, this was good stuff.
It still blows my mind that the chick who sang Call Me Maybe (which I love) is fitting in so well in the Indie scene (which I also love), and making all sorts of great pop music.
Jesus Christ, are we sure this isn't a Modest Mouse lost b-side just rebranded. If Brand New is indeed leaving us soon, these new/reworked songs are a good way to go.
They both did some marginal backing vocals on the last one, who knows.
He's definitely got some heavy Nick Drake vibes, which is about as far from a bad thing as an artist could be
Julien Baker could make baking cupcakes sound sad, but in the best way possible
I can't tell if this band is just shallow, breezy-fun guitar music or not, but I love the shit out of everything they've put out.
Her voice and energy just kills with this. If she bailed on Paramore and joined these guys I wouldn't be upset
I wasn't really on top of my music game when this record came out (Other than hearing Wolf Like Me), so every now and then I get to come back to it and find out how much I like it. Wolf Like Me is still GOAT though
You're crazy, that level was the best
Whoops, like a car that can't be stopped from driving off a cliff.
"Like Eat Glass" is probably a top 5 opener. Melodies, Rhythm, like a car
I know there's lot of ambivalence about these guys, but I much prefer a world with The Strokes in it
This sounds borderline accessible by Wolf Eyes standards.
Ayeeee, summer, dance, guitar music personified. Elevators wasn't bad either.
That cut-off is perfect.
