I love Jeff's shout out to Chad Channing (Nirvana drummer from 1988-90 and not included in their induction) on his t-shirt.
You're thinking of Matt Cameron, not Chamberlain.
Soma by Smashing Pumpkins off Siamese Dream. Said it before, say it again.
Definitely still prefer "Grassroots" as their definitive album, more of that hippie-funk-rock than their later pop rock rap, which was far less original.
It was very weird to transition from Grunge/Alt Rock to 311 and Sublime, but it somehow worked for me...in the dark years.
Crucify me if you want, but I think you're doing 311 a disservice here, they were blowing up on radio with their own self-titled album a year before the Sublime self-titled was released.
Not trying to be "that guy" but the song's called "Doin' Time" even though everyone calls it "that summertime song". :)
"DISTORTION-soaked" album, Peripheral Vision? I think you misspelled "reverb." There is a serious lack of distortion on that album, which is kind of what gives it that cohesive sound that so many people loved. Stoked on more new music from these guys, one of if not my favorite from last year.
Yeah, i agree with your points completely. I'm not trying to defend him. I guess it's good that alcoholism made him blurt out these comments, in a way, since now he has to address those deep-rooted issues directly.
Agreed, and sad as well. The regrettable comments he is atoning for sound like alcoholism to me.
Good point. If so then, yes, for sure! :)
Plainsong as a musical endeavor was not invented by the Cure on Disintegration, so if anything, they pulled it from the same source: religion.
Probably true, IF you don't think OK Computer is Radiohead at their best. They're always the exception though, aren't they?
What band from the 90s wasn't better in the 90s?
This is awesome! Talk about a forgotten band (critically). One of the biggest snubs in Pitchfork history. Remember when they gave Source Tags & Codes a 10.0 rating? Then remember when they listed their top 200 albums of the 2000s and listed Source Tags as number 100? Yeah, ok. How many albums in the top 100 were given a perfect 10 when they were released? Sigh.
You're right in a lot of ways about their down trend, but I think World's Apart was a pretty great album. To each their own!
Nah, I love Cornell. Mainly commented not to be a troll, rather in reaction to so many people ripping on Billy Corgan every chance they get. Music appreciation is so subjective. This is simply a forum where people discuss said music appreciation, etc. This paragraph you wrote, however, is pretty insulting and immature.
And "right" is whatever YOUR opinion happens to be?
So he wrote a eulogy for Scott Weiland and you're upset that he didn't mention Chris Cornell?
