Yeah, this is really the only way to make this list. In Rainbows could stand at number #2 with The Bends slightly, slightly lower, in my opinion. But all the rest just as you've said.
Really happy to see Yellow House well represented in the top 10, since I still consider it their best. But two things I'd change: 'Fix It' would be replaced by 'Showcase' from Horn of Plenty. The song is great on the album but they transformed it into the most incredible song to hear live. It is a travesty that no decent live recording exists (or is easily found online) of this song. And Sorry for the Delay would be removed and Little Brother (Electric) from the Friend EP would be added to the list, probably at the #2 spot behind Knife. The first time I heard them play the Electric version live, Grizzly Bear moved from 'this band that has a really good album' to 'Holy shit I will be following what these guys do until the end of time'. I don't think I've ever enjoyed an alternate version to a song I already enjoyed as much as that one. Hell, put it at #1.
This man speaks the truth! I wasn't too impressed with Coexist until I listened to it with headphones... which makes sense because that's really the only way I listened to the self titled album.
I would kill for The Eraser 2.
If you travel with 3 other people... the cruise is $700/person after taxes/fees. Tickets to next year's Coachella are $434 with car/camping. Not factoring in travel to either location... One includes sleeping in a tent in the desert, the other is a cruise in the Bahamas with all food and normal-cruise-stuff entertainment included. Obviously the cruise has a much more limited lineup... but I don't see how it's a bad deal.
This is a little overkill, don't you think? She's also going to Detroit and Oakland. But I'm sure she's not playing in the crime-ridden hellhole parts of those cities either.
The Mountain Park Fleet Foxes and Decemberists shows had good turnouts... although I wasn't looking for tickets on Craigslist so I don't know what the going rate was. I am pretty freakin excited that Fiona Apple is doing a show there. Never thought I would get a chance to see her live!
Hey gif-makers! Please make a gif of Clooney watching Cirque de Soleil!
I share your rage. Apparently no one in America, including the Academy, saw Tintin, even when given free copies of it on DVD. I'm glad it absolutely killed in the international box office so we'll be able to see at least a second film.
Rango was great, and deserves to be in that category. Kung Fu Panda 2 and Puss and Boots do not... but freakin Tintin absolutely does! I don't understand why it was snubbed from a shoe-in category like BEST ANIMATED FEATURE. It's not like I'm asking for Best Picture or something... come on, Academy :(
I don't know what world you live in, but plane tickets and accommodation easily triples the cost of going to a festival like this.
The greatest part is that the little brother apparently gets the same gift (IPOOOOOODTOOOUCH), but reacts like a normal human being.
It was odd seeing the normal-looking awning of a 90's Cheesecake Factory. The only ones I've seen are ridiculously huge and gaudy mall-shrines.
We met at Starbucks. Not at the same Starbucks but we saw each other at different Starbucks across the street from each other.
I think the Garden State rage must have affected his view of Amelie. It's impossible to hate Amelie.
This. No actual Radiohead fan would pick Creep as their favorite song. It's fine... but only would be an absolute favorite if you haven't heard anything else they've made since 1993.
Seriously, this was the worst part. BREAKING NEWS: Yes this story has been happening for the last 9 months but WE JUST HEARD ABOUT IT!
On first listen, at 3:55 I was pretty sure she said "I don't go poo, or smoke, or anything." You know, just like a vampire doesn't go poo, or smoke or anything.
The 3D was really poorly done! I'm not a huge fan of 3D in movies anyway, but I noticed it maybe twice during the whole thing... A disclaimer comes up at the beginning of the movie and says something like: 'many scenes in this film were shot in 2D and were meant to be displayed this way, keep your glasses on throughout the film' If you lifted your glasses during much of the dialog scenes, you'd see a normal looking (not-blurry) but much brighter movie. If I see it a second time, it won't be in 3D.
