Noel Gallagher needs to become the new permanent host of Never Mind The Buzzcocks. They also need to add an extended monologue to the beginning of the show.
Before you rip his head of, read the whole piece. I don't endorse his view, but to some extent, I can understand how he has come to this view. "For all the people who walked from the grocery store back to their house, only to be met by a robber who shot them in the head for nothing — you gotta hang in there. " If you don't know, Henry Rollin's room mate and best friend met this fate. So it's understandable that he would come to a conclusion like this. "A few years ago, a guy I’d known for many years hanged himself in a basement. Weeks later, I went to the spot and picked up bits of plastic coating from the cord he used, which were on the floor after he was cut down. I liked the guy, but all I could think of then is all I can think of now — the drawings his kids had made that were pasted up on the walls of his kitchen." Same goes for the above quote. In my opinion, Rollins has come to the wrong conclusion about suicide and Robbin William's experience in particular. However, I can fully empathise with how he came to this view.
You go Yoko. You do you. WTF is up with Ira's guitar though? Why does it sound like some weird Jack White bluesy thing? If anything, this is the shock thing about the video.
I think Jerry Seinfeld and Meg White need to start a band called Hi-Fiveless
The "Best Songs" lists on this site seem to be a continuous exercise in contrarianism, despite the authors claims. Not even including imagine is like the list of Joy Division songs which didn't have "Love Will Tear Us Apart" at number one. While it's great to view things with fresh eyes, these lists come off as trying to bait the reader and court controversy (which I seem to be playing into).
Weird Al has made a career out of this. What makes this guy any different?
Music was great. That interview though...What on earth was all that drivel? It's like his mouth can't quite keep up with his brain.
Totally agree with your description of Emeralds. I've really been a fan of Mark McGuire's solo stuff, and I'm glad to see him blowing up a bit.
I hear they have a different system for compensating artists too. Surprised this wasn't covered in the article.
I have no problem with them sounding a little 'slicker', but this sounds super compressed to me; maybe that's just the stream quality though.
And he's basically disowned it. He has worse things to say about Be Here Now than he does Reflektor. "Every millisecond that Liam's not singing, there's a guitar solo, in a Wayne's World styling"
Lyrics on Definitely Maybe are actually alright. "Cigarettes and Alcohol" and "Live Forever" are standouts in that respect. And then there's "Digsy's Dinner"...
To the non-Australians, AJ Maddah is known for his poor organisational skills; despite running some high profile festivals.
Do you really think Stereogum's readership needs to be told an (latter day) Eminem album is bad? I'd have much rather seen a review of something I'm less familiar with.
I have no problem with you signing up to a random website to defend Eminem. But at least do so in a coherent and convincing fashion. lol idiot
I give a damn of his stupid reviews idiots.
Glad to have confirmation of the new Fucked Up album. Also, can't wait to hear Year Of The Dragon.
I hear that you and your band have sold your guitars and bought turntables. I hear that you and your band have sold your turntables and bought guitars. It's all just a cycle.
I don't see the point when I have Spotify.
