Finally got on to Facebook, already listed some of the overlooked albums I liked, so now I'll just list some albums I liked: Sunbather, mbv, 1017 Thug, Trap House III, Legacy, Modern Vampires of the City, The Ol' Soul EP, Shaking the Habitual, Meir, Acid Rap, Sunday School 2, 20/20 Experience, The Man Who Died in His Boat, Abandon, Trouble Will Find Me.
No Jimmy McMillan?
woah, there goes all the context of the next 5 posts.
yup. Easily one of my favorite songs. Which is why I brought up UGK, since that and "One Day" are both so high up on the list for me.
Ugh. This movie looks like it'll be so bad. Even though I really like Leonardo DiCaprio and Carey Mulligan, and Jay-Z.
Fuck it, I'm going to get one of those non-facebook accounts. what should my name be?
Wait a minute, both parts of Company Flow put out an album this year?
holy shit where is the south? two OutKast songs, A UGK feature, and a Geto Boys track is not nearly enough. One Day? I Seen A Man Die? International Playas Anthem? Doobie Ashtray? I mean I don't really expect anything too modern out of Rolling Stone, but at least an acknowledgement that southern rap is important would be nice.
so I guess record is in case some makes an awesome cover of someone else's song?
what is the difference between song of the year and record of the year?
Duality sort of came out last week, didn't it?
actually, yes they are.
I dig it. only issue: there's no way to find 5 EPs better than Burial's Kindred. though I guess it was almost album-sized anyway.
Swans, Japandroids, Killer Mike and Future in the top 11 is good. wondering if they forgot about Kill for Love, though.
but what about premature evaluations? actually these aren't all positive, and I personally hate #1 and don't care much for some of the others, but some of the most hyped-up albums are all over here. Good Luck, and Stay Based
Awesome write-up. this is such a fun mixtape, though if Pluto counts as a party rap full-length, that one ranks higher for me.
I know, I know. though it probably should end up on stereogum's list too, and hopefully some others.
