So we're calling 46 minute albums "compact" now? 2019 is truly wild.
Tom, any chance you know the royalties situation to Trent / NIN? If I remember correctly those ghost albums were released under a Creative Commons licence, which also might be some sort of billboard #1 first!
Well that's disappointing. But not that surprising.
So which one of these white guys was talking shit about rap?
Is this from the new Twin Peaks? I haven't watched it yet.
You know what masked produced is actually good? Slow Magic. He started out in the chillwave scene but has moved closer and closer to straight up EDM. But I still dig it. And dude had a Peter Silberman guest spot on his last album!
Yeah, seriously underrated band! Can't wait for the new album.
Just an incredible, life changing record. I remember listening to it almost every day outside in the sun the spring of my Freshman year of college. My wife (then girlfriend) and I got to see a Jeff Mangum solo show in early 2013, then the full band show later that year. No exaggeration, it was the best show I've ever seen in my life.
Also think about all the great art that was never created or never shared because so many talented people have been driven out of the industry for their own safety.
Also... Make Believe isn't that bad.
Y'all ever consider that Weezer started to suck after Pinkerton because Matt Sharp left, not because of Cuomo's identity crises? Ignore Pinkerton for a second and just listen to Blue -> Green. Then listen to the first couple Rentals albums.
"Available on all streaming services" seems like something that deserves more than a passing mention.
Weird how no one on stereogum has ever really described Zach from Diiv as "having a criminal record" though. What, exactly is the difference?
So what about that time Rick Ross wrote a song about date rape? Didn't even deserve a passing mention?
Kinda surprised there was no mention whatsoever of Pianos Become the Teeth - Lack Long After in this review. It seems like a pretty obvious precedent. But then again, I guess that album was released in 2011, before indie sites starting covering punk bands in earnest again.
Jackson is such an incredible song. Just a great encapsulation of everything CEG does well. But I actually think Aerobed might be my favorite song of theirs! It was a B-side on split 7" that didn't get a ton of notice, but my god is it emotional.
Do you remember what happened to Christopher Owens after Girls?
