I hear you—his talent seems to be taken for granted for the purposes of year-end lists recently, but both Street Halo and Kindred are too short to be considered a LP, so I can understand some critics overlooking these. But when there is a separate list for EPs, I don't get it. Although the EPs listed above are indeed good or great (but I haven't heard the Dum Dum Girls one), I doubt that the Stereogum staff consensus is that they're each/all better than Kindred. But I could be wrong.
Except: • Burial made a top 10 album (or the number 1 EP) • Hot Chip > Sleigh Bells and Taylor Swift • Chromatics, Grimes, Talabot > Fiona, Frank, et al.
Agreed. FWIW, it is #4 on Gorilla vs. Bear's list (which is easily the best list I've seen).
Some glaring oversights (e.g., Grimes, Chromatics, Chairlift), but the fact that Daphni, Traxman, Thee Oh Sees, and Animal Collective are all on Spin's list made me smile. And Rashad at #5.
Forgot Chromatics, Chairlift, Shackleton, Micachu, AnCo, iamamiwhoami, Vessel, et al.
December tour announcement imminent?
Also, I find it hard to fathom that anyone who's listened to all of their stuff would put Here Comes Your Man in the top 10, but maybe that's just me.
Great to see Tame and Velouria on here, but River Euphrates, Alec Eiffel, and Caribou are notably absent. Like others have said, though, picking 10 is only scratching the surface...so many good Pixies tracks.
Been waiting my whole life for a James Blake/Lil Wayne collab. http://bit.ly/MG1xTi
Pixies are one of my all-time faves, too, but Frank Black didn't really have that great of a voice to begin with. A bad Pixies album would be a letdown, but he's put out several really good albums since then—his first two solo joints & Dog in the Sand and (especially) Black Letter Days with the Catholics—so there is potential for something good. Plus, who cares about a single less-than-stellar reunion album? It's not gonna change the music the band already made.
Word is The Knife are recording. Right now they're at summer camp: http://bit.ly/KKS3ZY
Completely agree, man. Missing that tour is probably my largest concert-related regret, and I'd kill for the chance to fix it...
You can worry about their legacy. I'm more interested in the progression from Alive 1997 to 2007 (one of the best live albums ever) and hoping that there's enough new material to ensure Alive 2017.
Nice list. I'd probably add Daft Punk. And it feels like forever since The Knife and Burial released actual full-lengths.
Don't sweat it, bagley. Night and Day is the lead single from the new LP and a dope track. I hope Flutes is next though (with remixes by Todd Edwards, Tiger & Woods, and John Talabot, maybe?).

Good points—it did come out early, and we have short memories. And although there are lots of tracks on Visions which could be/are/will be singles, I'm not sure that any are really anthems.
^(2nd paragraph said in Max Fischer voice)
By the looks of that thread, it'll be a blowout. Moving on , I'm surprised that nobody even mentioned Grimes. One of the year's best albums, just not in the summer? I'll be blasting Circumambient and Be a Body all year long...
I'd like to thank Hot Chip - Flutes, Song of the Summer 2012 runner-up.
+1, especially the Chromatics and Little Boots remixes. other current faves on the same wavelength: Todd Edwards - Echo of the Past LA Vampires by Octo Octa - His Love Talabot feat. Pional - So Will Be Now Moodymann - Pray 4 Love
The CD is a pricey import from Amazon. If you don't want to buy, you can at least stream from their soundcloud page for now.
I agree. The Daphni (aka Caribou) remix of Night and Day is amazing, too, but since it's only available on Beatport right now, it's unlikely to get the same exposure.
Nice calls on Tu Fawning and Dustin Wong.
5. Shackleton - Music for the Quiet Hour 4. Burial - Kindred EP 3. John Talabot - fIN 2. Grimes - Visions 1. Chromatics - Kill for Love Also will make end-of-year list: Actress, Symmetry, Todd Edwards, Julia Holter, Lone, Ramona Falls, and Beach House.
Beastie Boys - Remote Control
Sign 'O' the Times falls right behind The Gold Experience in my list of favorite Prince albums, and it has nearly as much replay value and genre diversity. I disagree about Parade and Around the World in a Day—sure, they weren't commercially successful, but I love his early psychedelic experimentation and find them significantly more satisfying as full albums than (at least) For You, Prince, Diamonds & Pearls, and everything post-Emancipation. (typo fyi: machine gun, not machine gang)
Or you can just go to Polyvinyl's website and preorder the 2xLP, CD, cassette, t-shirt, or sweatshirt, all of which include an instant download of the album in MP3s.
There's a link to Lift in the first line below the youtube bar. And True Love Waits is better: http://bit.ly/sJdcP5
Nice to see Gang Gang in the top 10, but St. Vincent should be way higher, and I don't get the lack of love for Panda Bear's Tomboy.
"GNR would never seek to intentionally disrespect anyone, especially their fans." One in a Million??
Two listens in, and I'm loving it all. Codex is fantastic and stands out for me at this point.
