That Beach House video! It's like a world where Chrimbus is something people actually celebrate every year in a very serious way.
Maybe it's a little bit of a boring cover, but if the xx did it any other way they would just sound like everyone else these days who are playing with the same sound.
Don't worry. I accidentally called him Jose in the comments for the article reporting the break-up.
This is my favorite Stereogum name ever. I bought a Smush Parker jersey as a joke when he was on the Pistons. Joke was ultimately on me because those things are expensive and everyone forgot who he was the day he was traded. Or released. Both are likely. Anyway, I laugh every time I see your name and picture so thank you.
Thank you, Claire. That helps. I didn't realize she dealt with such heavy subjects. This makes her music sound less superficial, for sure. It still doesn't sound good to me, but I think I understand it better. I'm also, relative to the readers of this site, old. So, that probably has a lot to do with it.
By "cheered," of course, I meant jeered. Freudian slip, I suppose.
I'm going to get cheered for this (probably) but I feel like this transition in his songwriting has quite a bit to do with his relationship with Bethany. The verses of this song are just like those all over both Best Coast albums. If this is the case, it was a good influencing force because this is a very good song. Excited for this album.
Says the guy who will surely place in the top 5
Cedric just doesn't get along with anyone, I guess. Or it's Jose who doesn't. I don't know. Wish I could say I'm shocked by this but I'm not.
Maybe Claire Lobenfeld can write us a Deconstructing Kitty Pryde because I don't get this at all. If her recent output "harnesses (the energy) in her live show" then said live show must be the least charismatic rap show ever.
Tony Visconti just clarified that Bowie didn't say he wouldn't tour again. Your dream stays alive, RJC

Glad "Louisiana" made it. That song actually introduced me to the band and it's been intense periods of hugging and flirting ever since.
It's literally the opposite of catchy. I don't think it even has parts.
I think I just don't get this. Everyone has glowing things to say about her and I'm sure they have good reason for doing that, so I'll just take their word for it. And just leave it at that.
"Queen: Greatest Hits" is my favorite Queen album
Thank you for representing The Dekle this week
You're a scholar and gentleman, lil wayne disciple. Your reward: http://i50.tinypic.com/2n8mquu.jpg
So far, all I've really taken away from Song Reader is just how much music theory I've forgotten over the years. Anyone know of anyone/anything compiling those who have tried their hand at playing the songs and putting said on the internet? Or did I just give away a great idea for tumblr?
I would put The Card Cheat in there
So I guess The Money Store never happened? At least that's what all these lists appear to be saying.
No Michael Buble duet? Christmas is only a month away.
I think I like this list (as far as lists go) if for no other reason than I learned Dexy's Midnight Runners is still a thing that exists.
OK, I read that wrong. Retracted. Reading is hard.
I believe those are Hail to the Thief shoes
Also, this quote so much: "Axl Rose: he's like Santa Claus..."
Funny how he's sick all of the time. Half of these shows will be cancelled (obviously).
Congratulations, I love you.
Not an error http://i47.tinypic.com/nlszra.jpg
So it's sort of going to be like Family Ties only less funny (probably)?
Still waiting for my vinyl to come in and now I'm kicking myself for even pre-ordering the thing in the first place because I saw them in Detroit on Sunday and could have just bought it there. Anywho, I'm one of those folks who didn't get into the band until they were already pretty much on hiatus/done/etc., so to finally see them live was, no joke, a privilege. Their music is captivating on stereo and simply takes over your senses in-person. Hopefully, "God's Pee was" is just some dark humor. And thank you, Stereogum, for giving this album the nod this week. More than deserving. A beautiful listening experience.
I never thought I could take seriously a song with "hot deuce" in its title
At about 17:55 on Mladic, I pretty much did this: http://i46.tinypic.com/qodk7q.jpg
"the fact that they made this and it’s everything it should be is so so refreshing." YES! YES YES YES! I'm getting older and, thus, I'm getting rather jaded. And "jaded" and "instrumental post-rock" just don't go hand-in-hand these days. By this, I mean it's easy to work your way through the GY!BE catalog and feel as if there are no more ways to do what they do effectively. So, to listen to Allelujah! and realize that opinion is dead wrong is the best gift a dude could as for. That's not to say they're doing anything Earth-shattering with this release. That's not that point at all. What's important is the music still pulls at the very core of your being. It makes you feel as if music effects you on a chemist's level. And that's a world I'd like to live in. A world where I can put on a record and feel tangible emotions I cannot describe other than to say, "just listen to it, you'll understand."
Frustrated by that as well. You already made this point perfectly in the Death Grips comments but I can't understand how their "leak" got all the hype when GY!BE did something I can honestly say I've never heard of: just, "Hey, sup? We have an album, btw. It's at the merch table. Enjoy!" As for the album getting overlooked for album of the week, I hope you're wrong. My first listen to Allelujah! made me feel the way I felt the first time I listened to Lift Your Skinny Fists way back when. So, fingers crossed, I guess. Either way, it won't change how much I love the new album and Stereogum can't take that away from us. DON'T BEND, RAPTOR JESUS! ASCEND! As you did on Dino-Ascension Day (which, btw, is one of the weirdest special days of the Catholic calendar, imo. "OK, everyone. I'm out. You can all watch me float up to heaven now. Game - blouses." -Jesus.)
But the cement scrape wounds were a badge of honor
We played it in our neighborhood until one kid got knocked unconscious. His parents didn't appreciate it very much.
John Cale likes Gun Has No Trigger. This fact will be used to bolster my argument at the end of the year.
