this was one of my favorite moments of that night--Swans was still my favorite. The two pieces prior in that segment of the show were mostly about sex, asshole guys, and didn't have a lot of substance. I can't say I'm particularly well-versed in either the work of Andrew W.K. or Perfect Pussy, but my opinion of Perfect Pussy increased tremendously hearing this.
Have to go with Caribou.
yet with that said, I'm not crazy about this particular song.
as a self-admitted fan of a lot of mainstream and pop-dance music, but to whom the concept of going to a party or dance is virtually nightmarish, I would listen to it on my own time, at home.
That was immensely enjoyable.
I enjoy when Anthony Gonzalez incorporates sax into his music.
Agalloch, Alcest, and Wolves in the Throne Room? I must be dreaming.
I guess I just feel based on output of new music, by up and coming artists, and surprise releases I just question whether those albums are truly great, or are just picked because of name recognition. I should preface that I don't mind with readers here nearly as much as I would with someone into strictly top 40, since I can be more certain readers here exposed themselves to a larger variety and quantity of music than the typical top 40 listener would. Didn't mean to criticize 'gum readers tastes it it was taken that way.
Actually liking the back end of this one more than the top. Very surprised The National is that high (I liked it, but based on buzz was not expecting that high of a finish). I think why I dislike the top 5 here so much is it is just kind of boring, it's like a bunch of indie standards in my opinion. The kind of list that could be put together in January based on projected album releases.
I'd maybe switch Migos with Pusha T, but I can't say the top 10 look all too surprising.
Ah, 4 of my top 5 didn't fair too well. James Blake, Rhye, Pusha T, and Fuck Buttons not seeming to make the list. Maybe I missed them. At least I liked them immensely.
Glad I didn't drop any money on that yet, I guess.
I was secretly wishing I'd see Maria on there as well; knew it was a longshot.
I hadn't listened to The xx in a while, and then I heard Angels. This had the misfortune of coming along after I overloaded on ethereal auditory sex. Not bad, but Angels did a lot more for me.
I will probably give it a spin, but I am totally fine keeping my Lana Del Rey collection to just Video Games and Blue Jeans.
I am trying to justify my glee over what Anonymous did...
This list would be super original if it had these as the top 5 then? Coldplay, Britney Spears, Lady Gaga and Selena Gomez & the Scene and Childish Gambino -- not one was BNM'd!
I approach my commenting here as I do life: no intention of having sex. It has worked marvelously for me in both not having sex and not making top comments, but I cannot claim this will bring you any more understanding or happiness.
I feel like I have to give Fucked Up more of a shot than I did. I typically enjoy BNM's, but FU did absolutely nothing for me.
Close to impeccable. Maybe Austra, if I had to place some judgement on it.
