This is may just be the best Mountain Goats album since The Sunset Tree, and definitely my choice for album of the week. Another strong release in what is shaping up to be an especially great year for music.

Agreed. Yeah I love me some Kanye, and yeah his performance was heartfelt, but that doesn't change the fact that it was an absolutely cringe-worthy disaster.

Rant time. I've been telling my friends all year that Benji wasn't as good as people were making it out to be. Simplistic songs with blunt lyrics that have somehow gotten interpreted as being particularly "genuine," or "relatable," rather than clumsy. There's certainly a handful of tracks that work fairly well, but on the whole, it sounds lazy when compared to his earlier work -- especially the fantastic, sweeping Ghosts of the Great Highway. Anyways, I completely agree with you - the entire album reeks of insincerity for me now, and the fact that this whole "beef" has been leading others to critically reexamine Benji is seriously gratifying for me. Its a mediocre work that doesn't even belong in the AotY conversation. End rant.

Personally, I think the song would be vastly improved if the creepy dude whispering "one less problem without ya" into your ear was completely dropped from the mix.

As much as I love Red Eyes, it kinda came out last year already.

I don't understand why some people here are up in arms about these interviewers throwing sexually loaded questions at her - you guys are aware she devotes entire songs to topics like getting eaten out (see: "Pu$$y"), correct? Given that she's decided to market herself entirely on her sexuality, and seems more comfortable discussing that than her actual music, I see nothing wrong with it. That being said, this was extremely uninteresting.
