I love you all. I regret not being more proactive in getting to know you Monsters. Any Bay Area Monsters want to hold a vigil?
My brain assembled all of these stories into a Terrence Malick-esque stream-of-consciousness film. It was beautiful.
When is Ken Burns going to do a film on Videogum herstory?
"My name's Gabe and I can do push-ups! Neener neener neener!"
This is a real bummer. But I suppose it's motivation to turn my own pop/high culture blog into something other than a reserved domain name. What's going to happen to us Monsters?
Also today is my birthday! Tonight I am splurging (see: my BF is buying) by eating dinner at one of America's top-rated French restaurants and tomorrow is a day at the park in SF!
Oh goodness! That police blotter pic is from the local Palo Alto weekly newspaper. My guy and I read it almost every week over bagels for breakfast, because the blotter entries are often very funny. Atherton (if Palo Alto is for rich tech people, Atherton is for richer tech people who think Palo Alto is too grungy) always has great ones, like "Woman sees attempted robbery, but it was just a teen entering his parent's home", or "Caller reports suspicious activity, turns out it was just a predominantly Latino yard maintenance crew", or "Atherton resident reports pile of rubies left exposed on rotunda stolen".
In my teens I wrote a novelization of Final Fantasy X. I got about halfway before I gave up. Still, that's a couple hundred pages.
Booooooo (mainly because I'm allergic).
Vin Diesel is a cutie. A dope, but also a cutie.
Agreed. Also, it doesn't help that my dad has a group of dad friends that call themselves the Suburban Pussy Posse and bounce from Applebee's to Chili's back to Applebee's every weekend, hitting on the female servers.
I'm okay with Kate McKinnon doing her Russian/Eastern European peasant woman every week. I will NEVER get tired of gross exaggerations of Russian/Eastern European peasants. Also, Beck Bennett continues to be a real cutie.
Oh, and the Nancy Grace sketch, which based on the audience laughter, nobody enjoyed. But I LOVED IT.
Things I liked this episode: The Before They Were Stars sketch accurately reproduced the look and broadcast resolution of each show. "First of all, my dad is SEVENTY-EIGHT..." Drake's short shorts in the Disney World sketch. More boys in short shorts, please. The Jacqueline Bisset thing was totally silly and a no-brainer and I loved it. "Why are you combing your hair up!?"
God, this is dumb. Why they need to sexify an already beautiful woman, at the height of her public recognition due to her memorable portrayal of Effie in the bonkers-successful Hunger Games movies is so dumb. Elizabeth Banks is not a household name, but she's definitely a household face. So let's make that face look like Voldemort's daughter undergoing the Cruciatus curse.
It's based on our names.
"I am ruined by whimsy" is a very funny line.
Just add "..., I guess." to the end of each of the winners.
