Can't really complain, but I was hoping to see Swans top at least one list.
Around the time "The Apostate" hit the 19-minute mark, I thought of "Here Come the 7,000 Frogs" by Naked City. MG and Eye must have the same vocal coach.
Regarding the album cover: This is why Wookiees and Ewoks shouldn't interbreed.
This album is far from a dream come true... This thing is the goddamn theme to my nightmares' nightmares (I mean that in a VERY good way)!
What we all feel like doing to this list after seeing all the brilliant songs left off: http://27.media.tumblr.com/tumblr_lm2rws0h8Z1qjnaoso1_500.gif
I can obviously go on about all the songs that should've been on this list, but it looks like that is being taken care of. The fact that there can be SO MANY different possible top-10 Wilco songs for so many different people only speaks to the band's sheer fucking genius catalog.
I'll always pay attention to Morrissey. Even if what he says is sometimes nonsensical, it's eloquently nonsensical (and usually amusing). And it's not like he's releasing these statements straight to music news outlets--just to a fan site. Far from a cry for attention.
Oh shit this is just like the time I watched the beach volleyball scene in Top Gun and now I'm paralyzed from the euphoric body spasms.
Funny because Pitchfork listed it as one of its favorite record stores: http://pitchfork.com/features/articles/8813-record-store-day/
You might've seen this--it was a few years ago. What a story for that Tupelo fan that Tweedy mentions. http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=ukOEXaGIQLw
I'd die happy if I saw Tweedy and Farrar play as Uncle Tupelo again.
One of my favorite articles I've read on Stereogum. I'm a longtime Koz fan, so to see a countdown list of his albums accompanied by knowledgable and eloquent explanations/descriptions is a treat. It's obvious this was created with careful thought and deliberation.
Lana Del Rey, May Jailer, Lizzy Grant . . . We've all been duped. Why didn't I see it before? This can only be the work of one person: Gene Parmesan
I'd even throw in "Poor Places". Some great choices from A Ghost is Born as well. Just astounding not one Wilco song made it.
That's honestly great, but the reason these lists are MADE is to be scrutinized and dissected and discussed. In other words, to sell copies.
Listen, I know Wilco isn't necessarily a single-centric band, but their absence on this list is a gross miscalculation.
Thought a British publication would be all over something like Burial's "Archangel".
Cannot wait to see these guys in September. Gira is one of the most underrated frontmen out there.
Been anticipating this one for a while. I'm sure I'll love it, but I wish it had the instrumentation of Ghosts of the Great Highway. That guitar in "Salvador Sanchez" still tickles my fancy.
If EPs count, Daniel Rossen.
