I feel like that show belongs on Adult Swim at 3 AM. What a weird, trippy show. I love it.
I thought the same thing! This actress seemed so upbeat and smiley that I thought to myself, "Wow, Kristen Stewart actually has range!"
That's easily in my top 5 movies of the year. I watched it again last night and loved it just as much when I saw it in the theater. I'll probably watch it again tonight with the commentary.
Somehow this video made every movie that came out this year seem incredibly cool, including "Grown Ups" and "Shrek 4". Never underestimate the power of a good montage.
For anyone that loves Stefon as much as I do, this is from an interview with Bill Hader about how he created the character (with John Mulaney, yay!): "I went to a coffee shop, in my neighborhood [and] a guy working there looked like Stefon and talked like that. And I would wait for my coffee every morning and just try to engage him in conversation, because I thought he was really funny. And I remember one time he was freaked out, because his mom was in town and his mom was staying with him. And I go, 'Oh, where do you live?' And he goes, (adopting the Stefon voice) 'I live on the Lower, Lower East Side.' And I just was like, 'Oh my God!'" I just like thinking that there is a real live Stefon out there in the world.
My favorite part of the Jen breakdown was when she was saying goodbye to everyone and acting like it was no big deal, and then as soon as she's out of frame - "THIS IS BULLSHIT!" I'm kind of scared of her now.
Agreed. Especially when Rachel was all, "last Christmas I asked for you" - um, no you didn't, because you don't ask for Christmas presents. Granted, Hanukkah songs aren't all that fun to sing, but they could have gotten away with something.
There's an Antoine Dodson joke in there somewhere.
I felt SO WEIRD about that last night. Like, the fat chick demands candy in order to perform? What the hell is that all about?
Carl got her over her OCD! I think that scores some points.
That's how I see it too - like, okay, here it is, now there's nothing to hide, so let's stop being weird. It's something that I wish happened in real life but never does.
You know, this movie and this scene in particular appeal to every sentimental, sappy, girly bone in my body. It's useless to fight it so I've just accepted it.
Holy shit, I love the part where Emma Thompson is just standing there alone in her bedroom and it's so awkward and heartbreaking and real.
I just can't hate on this movie. That scene with Grimes and Keira Knightly and the cue cards and "To me you are perfect" - it chokes me up every time, guys. Every time.
A Bedbug's Life (Or why I watch trailers safely in my own home, instead of at the movie theater. NAILED IT.)
Yeah, something was so off about "Make 'Em Laugh", even though if I remember correctly they did it all in one take, which I can appreciate. It just didn't have the same spark. It is my "Glee" pipe dream that someday they will cast a dancer who is as good as Mike Chang so they can do a killer version of "Moses Supposes".
"Your Highness" is our generation's "Men In Tights". But seriously, this has all the things that I like in it, and I hope it's not one of those movies where every funny joke is in the trailer. Looking forward to it.
I laughed so hard once I figured out what the chocolate meant.
This show always goes the extra step. Love it.
I think from now on every post should have a wall of Ron Swanson at the breakfast buffet gifs.

Great iPhone background.
I can't think of a worse way to add to Bieste's low self-esteem than to give her a pity kiss. Mr. Schue meant well, I guess, but that just made me cringe.
Who knew that it would only take Darren Criss/Harry Freakin' Potter for me to like both acapella and "Teenage Dream"? It was a little heavy on the autotune but it was my favorite number of the episode. Also, if you're not up to speed and a huge nerd like me, watch this: http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=wmwM_AKeMCk. It's long but incredibly worth it, and hot new guy Blaine is in it!
That part is pretty creepy to me. In most of the other zombie movies I've seen they just kind of force their way through whatever barrier is stopping them, but in this one they can climb ladders and almost use a doorknob? Scary!
That's how I felt the first time I saw Ira Glass! It's so weird to see an actual person when you're so used to a disembodied voice.
I was kind of in a little bit of a rut lately with podcasts so this post is great. I was trying to force myself to listen to Radiolab for a while but it's totally lost me (and sometimes the format, while impressive, can be overwhelming), and I used to be a loyal SModcast listener (don't judge) but it's gotten pretty stale. That's exactly how I feel about "Fresh Air". Terry Gross is a great interviewer and she has a perfect radio voice, but if I don't know the guest I won't listen to it. Her interview with Jason Schwartzman recently was pretty interesting. I like Alan Sepinwall - is "Fire and Ice" more TV commentary? I've also heard good things about Pod F. Tompkast so that'll also be next.
That particular interview has gotten me on a comedy podcast kick lately. I listen to a lot of This American Life but now I'm all about Doug Loves Movies and WTF. A lot of these guys reference The Nerdist as well, which is the next one on my list.
Out of context "Strangers With Candy" quote thread, anyone? I'm having a rough week and that'll help. I'll start: "I cried when I had no shoes, until I met a man who had no feet. And then I laughed. Really hard."
You guys should all go listen to Steel Train. Their last album is great and they play more than one chord, I promise.
I had no idea how to respond to this post until I got to your comment. And it has Jerri Blank, so two points for you. Sorry guys, I love Joseph Gordon Levitt and that song by The Temper Trap and all of Zooey's adorable blue dresses. DEAL WITH IT.
I love Jon Hamm because he's gorgeous, funny, and can deliver the line "are you insane in the MEMBRANE? INSANE IN THE BRAIN?" with conviction.
I wanted to link to it so badly but I felt weird typing out the URL at work...
You nailed it by describing Finn as "wooden, but not really in a quirky, liable way". It feels like Cory Monteith is trying to play him as this super-awkward, bewildered teenager, which is why I never fully bought the "football super-stud" aspect of his personality. Most of the jocks I knew in high school were way more loud, self-confident , and goofy than Finn seems to be.
It started when he decided to insert himself into "Toxic" a few weeks ago, but last night really sealed the deal.
I think having Finn cast as Brad has to be one of the best uses of the character so far. He nailed "Damnit, Janet" for me. Those glasses are a good look for him. I think overall I was disappointed because I was kind of expecting a lot more "Rocky Horror" out of a "Rocky Horror" episode. I thought the writers would be doing some sort of parallel with the plot, or a few more winks towards the original show or cast. Santana and Brittany spying on Schuester and Emma during "Toucha-Toucha Touch Me" was more what I had in mind - they were actually playing Magenta and Columbia in the school play as well as referencing the original movie. Instead we got a shoehorned-in homage to that scene where everyone's yelling each other's names. If this is what Ryan Murphy thinks of "Rocky Horror", I'm not looking forward to his movie remake. Although it would be fun to imagine who he would cast in each role. Who is today's Barry Bostwick?
I cracked up when Mercedes said that the theme of the show comes from the lyric "don't dream it - be it', because that scene comes from an orgy in a swimming pool. I can't wait for kids to watch the original "Rocky Horror" to look for that inspirational message. Yikes.
I'm requesting "Forever". What a classic.
