Neon Cheap was on on full rotation for me last summer.
Future Islands is the kinda band I don't want to see change anything. I want to know I'm getting the exact same Future Island album with every new release.
The trend of mind blowing opening tracks continues with this one...is there another band does opening tracks better? https://media.giphy.com/media/Bi6FcO7UoutWM/giphy.gif
For someone that proclaims to be old school this comes off as merely click bait.
Another piece to a the puzzle...
I dunno...while that boy was being nailed to the cross I'm sure he had something to say.
Don't hate the playa hate the game...I find myself saying this alot these days. The freedom to hate is way too transparent these days. To just say yeah this is a good band just not for me seems to not exist anymore. It's just a bunch of They Suck without any real understanding that they really don't they're just not my scene
Whoa whoa whoa Greasy...Generational band!? Lets not jump the shark here here Fonz. From the words of Seinfeld let's keep this sophicated. Just a respect talent for what it is...you don't have to like them ya just don't have to tank them. If you don't see they are a qualified band with great talent then you need to hop on the local top 40 websites.
Why does credibility have to apply to overrated? WTF is that perspective? Where is the line really. You're either talented or you're not and whether or not it applies to trolling comments shouldn't be the debate. If a publication chooses to put the spotlight on an incredible band why should it all of a sudden be a case of how they are represented? I'm seriously asking only in interest as to what defines dislike for a band. There are tons of band on this site that make me vomit but to disregard the level of talent is ridick. Honestly for me, they really aren't at the top of my love list, I mean I enjoy their releases and for some reason I love the idea of a rock band that succeeds in a world where it's so hard for bands like Big Thief to succeed and they're like in the top 1% of projected success rate, but I mean come on...respect it no matter what your personal preference may be. Any music lover that's not deaf can see that these guys give a shit and have really not missed.
Overrated is bit obtuse. From a talent perspective they are an extremely cohesive and technically exceptional band. To not like them and not be your thing is totally cool, but to dismiss them as dirty hipsters and bland is ignorant. It's as if your type casting them for being loyal to their earnest brand which is actually pretty noble to see in rock these days.
Liking Big Thief can def be exhausting and the idea of double album Big Thief is frightening, but dammit, they just don't stop with their awesomeness.
Unfortunately, this thing is so far from over. I would imagine what comes next would be the protests outside Spotify HQ. Funny, the whole Neil/Covid thing that started this seems like a ages ago.
They are percolating for sure...sound is getting more refined and expansive. I keep getting this Arctic Monkey kinda vibe with them and this would be that album where you'd think should spike them into next level. Granted they aren't the same but it feels like this upcoming release is sorta like that same path
Other than streaming services, and the ridiculous thought that big box stores could even remotely help a majority of bands, please enlighten as to where "elsewhere" lies for them? They are backed into a corner with nowhere to opt out. And Spotify fucking knows its got em by the balls.
Now when you say 'elsewhere' do mean, like, Walmart?

Oh yeah, thats much better. https://media.giphy.com/media/10o3Um2U3wa4DK/giphy.gif
Does whatever reason really matter? Rogan viewers aren't bright enough to filter anything, if that's even the case.
The best example I've read that explains this vile company is when the world went to shit and Covid grounded everyone, Spotify, (mind you their stock soared due to the pandemic giving them so much new biz) they could have done something, anything, to increase the revenue for the gazillion bands that had tours halted and the ability to record new material being extremely difficult to pull off, as a good will gesture. They didn't. Their response was simply, 'If you're struggling, make more music.' I say Spotify, fuuuuuuuck you.
